Friday, March 24th– This Friday, March 24, 2017, at H.O.M.E – Portland House of Music and Events the annual Stache Pag is back! Part talent show, part costume contest, part facial hair competition, it’s the 2017 Stache Pag. Grab your tickets and come join the fun as mustachioed men (and facial hair-clad women!) perform for your adulation while competing for the title of the 10th Annual Mr. Stache Pag. The competition will begin at 9:00 pm Sharp. Contestants will strut their stuff on the catwalk while the host announces his name and a few observations. Each mustachio gets five seconds and some funky music to work with. After the first round, competitors will enter into the talent portion of the show. Weekend Guide March 17th-19th

Friday March 17th- Every year on March 17th, Portland Old Port turns into one giant festival of celebration for all things green! The city comes alive and showcases just what Portland Old Port is all about. This year it happens to be on a Friday, and if you haven’t got a chance to check out our personal directory of the top places to go on Saint Patrick’s Day in the Old Port, we’ve included a few of them here. Bars will be opening at 6a.m. for the day’s festivities.

Weekend Guide March 10th-12th 2017

Friday March 10th– FUN FACT FRIDAY: The American Civil Liberties Union of Maine (previously the Maine Civil Liberties Union) was founded in 1968 with the purpose of advancing and preserving civil liberties of Maine people through litigation, advocacy, public education and lobbying. Join them, Spizzy Spose, and an amazing line-up of additional music performances from Weakened Friends, Bright Boy, Jeff Beam, Sunset Hearts, Amarantos Quartet and Anna Lombard all in one night at Port City Music Hall for The ACLU Benefit Concert. Tickets can be purchased through the link here, or day of show. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Show starts at 8:00 pm. Tickets are: $10 Advance / $15 Day of Show / $25 Preferred Seating.

Weekend Guide March 3-5th 2017

Friday, March 3rd – Kick off the weekend with FIRST FRIDAY! First Friday Art Walk is Maine’s largest free monthly cultural event. Over the years, this free event, has blossomed into a monthly arts and cultural event that takes place on the first Friday of every month (rain, sleet, snow, or shine) throughout the city. In addition to checking out local venues and the community’s unique array of artists, Portland House of Music and Events H.O.M.E. will be throwing a #GoBigforHunger Benefit concert benefitting Full Plates Full Potential. Doors open at 8:00 pm, show starts at 8:30 pm. and bands include Armies, members of Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds, and The Working Dead. Weekend Guide October 7th-9th


Friday, October 7th– TGIF! Start your weekend off right with some drinks over at Rhum Food + Grog. Every first Friday of the month Rhum throws an event with Rhum infused house music and specialty cocktails. There is no cover for this event and it goes from 6:30-11:30. During the day from 11AM-4PM, Feeding the 5000 Portland, Maine is an interactive and informational event with high profile chefs and speakers will offer common-sense solutions on how to reduce the amount of nutritious food that goes to waste in our homes. Right in Portland’s Monument Square, local chefs and volunteers will serve thousands of people a delicious, free meal made entirely from fresh, locally grown food.

Friday, September 16th– TGIF! Start your weekend off with a good cold craft beer. The Thirsty Pig will be hosting a Belgian Beer Fest Night with Allagash Brewing Company and Ommegang. There will also be a special food menu for this one of a kind night. Another pre Belgian Fest party will be at Novare Res Bier Cafe. Leon Bridges was set to play at the State Theater but was moved to Thompson’s Point by popular demand and tickets purchased before the switch will still be valid. Leon Bridges is known for his song “Coming Home” which was top 10 Most Viral Track on Spotify. Another event is something that hits home for many people.
