The Weekend Guide August 4-6, 2017

FRIDAY

The tall ships are sailing in this Friday and docking in beautiful Portland, Maine until Sunday! Don’t miss your chance to tour the USCGC Eagle and SSV Oliver Hazard Perry FOR FREE! The tall ships will be docked at the Portland Ocean Terminal, bring the whole family to tour these amazing ships. Did I mention this is a free event?

It’s that time of the month again, the First Friday Art Walk is this Friday! Stroll the streets of downtown Portland and browse through pieces crafted by local artists. Pick up a unique piece for your home, a gift or bring the family and “window” shop.

Tandem is also celebrating first Friday with their monthly First Friday Hotdog Night. Tandem recently bought a ping pong table and is incorporating a ping pong tournament into this month’s hot dog night. Do you have what it takes to win?

Dance all night at Empire with DJ KTF as he spins throwbacks all night. There is no cover but there will be plenty of drink specials to fuel this dance party. Come party with us like its 2001!

SATURDAY

Speaking of throwbacks, this weekend features a couple of throwback concerts. The Maine State Pier welcomes Lifehouse & Switchfoot to Portland. We “don’t dare you” to move away from this concert, it’s going to be a blast!

The music continues at Slab as part of their Summer Music Series as they welcome Junco to their patio. Come early and take advantage of their happy hour for $3 slabs and $1 off beer, wine and select drinks.

Thompson’s Point hosts Alabama Shakes this Saturday. This is a sold-out show, but head to Thompson’s Point anyway! Grab a beer on the patio at Bissell, you might be able to hear the concert from there!

Saturday brings you yet another throw back. Help Aura welcome Joel and Benji to the stage. Good Charlotte is singing a “dance floor anthem’ all night.

SUNDAY

Get off on the right foot Sunday morning with some yoga. Hardshore Distilling Company hosts Be Well Bend and Booze from 10:30-noon. Sweat out the remnants of the weekend and fight off that hangover with an adult beverage after your workout, you earned it!

All that stretching probably made you hungry. Join bGood in celebrating their 3rd annual block party. Eat all you want for only $20 and enjoy local beer, ice cream and live music all day. This event is fun for all ages and ticket proceeds go toward a Portland non-profit organization.

Head to Thompson’s Point for Stoudwater Distillery for their anti-brunch event, its going to be killer!

Dark Star Orchestra comes to town on Sunday as part of their Summer Tour 2017. Dark Star Orchestra has performed live for over 18 years. They embody the Greatful Dead’s live experience for fans of all ages.
