Friday, July 22– Get ready for the Maine Brewer’s Guild Summer Session with a pre-party joint tap takeover. There will be two breweries there, Foundation Brewing Company and their guests Burlington Beer Company. They will be pouring their beer in Maine for the first time ever so you definitely do not want to miss this opportunity! This event will be held at Nosh Kitchen Bar from 5pm-1am. Also going on this Friday will be Salsa in the Park! There will be live music with Primo Cubano and from 6-630 there will be salsa lessons taught by Wendy Edwards. This is a great family friendly event to attend so do not miss out! Salsa in the Park starts at 6pm and goes till 8pm and is taking place in Congress Square Park. Have you ever wanted to try a bug? Well now is your chance! From 11am-4pm at the Children’s Museum & Theater of Maine there will be a Bug Fest! You get to try edible bugs, play bug-themed games, build a life-sized beehive, make bug-themed crafts, bake a cake (not made from the creepy crawlers) and more!
Saturday, July 23– Ok folks, the Maine Brewer’s Guild Summer Session Beer Festival is finally here! It is one of the biggest craft beer celebrations in Maine and your chance to try Maine’s best beers and others from around the country. The event will be held at Thompson’s Point waterfront venue from 1-5pm. If you are still up after the beer fest The Awesome will be playing from 8pm-1am at the Portland House of Music and Events. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 day of show. Do you love to drink cider and salsa dance? There is a salsa and cider event at Urban Farm Fermentory from 5pm-7pm. There will be an hour long beginner salsa class followed by an hour of open dancing. The tickets are only $10 and is CASH BAR!
Sunday, July 24- Need a hangover cure from the beer fest? The Thirsty Pig will be serving beer brunch with brunch entrees and a la carte item from Chef Matt, beer pairings and breakfast bubbly starting at 11am. There will also be live music with Joe Galant Music at 12. You can also have brunch at The Hop Yard in Gorham from 10am-2pm (or when the beer is gone). They will be serving up a Sunday morning recovery program featuring food and beer. From 6-8pm there will be Sunset Wine Sail that will be featuring delicious Mediterranean wines. You will learn how to describe what you smell and taste, how to select wine styles and quality, and build your confidence on how to evaluate different wines.
