“Best Of” nominations complete; top 10 nominees in each category move on to the finals. More than 150,000 votes expected to be tallied.
[Portland, Maine, Aug 1, 2019—] Voting for the 2019 Best of Portland Old Port Awards begins Aug. 1 and will continue through midnight on Aug. 31. All nominees are eligible for voting currently; halfway through the process on Aug 14, the field will be narrowed to 10 finalists for the final two weeks of voting, ending on Aug 31st at midnight.
3,760 people participated in the nominations with a total of more than 30,000 entries. Winners will be announced and honored at an awards gala to be held later this month. From restaurants to nightlife, culture to industry, and news anchors to tattoo shops, this is one of the top honors residents of and visitors to Portland can bestow upon the places and people they find the most endearing, fun, lively and just generally valuable in any number of ways to time spent here.
Voting is easy! Anyone, anywhere can participate and those interested can vote once per day per email address. Everyone starts fresh; no rollover from the nominations round. “There’s so much changing in Portland right now and the kind of growth we’re experiencing can be difficult to deal with, so we wanted to put some fun back in Portland and this is one of the ways Portland Old Port is doing that,” says publisher Nathan O’Leary. “Recognizing the “Best Of” Portland is just a start.
