Moonday Coffee and Thicket Jewelry announced that they will be opening a retail space and micro coffee bar in The Black Box on Washington Avenue. Build-out has already started, and they hope to open in the next few weeks.
Launching just this past July by Owner David Kessel, Moonday Coffee has been operating their espresso cart(s) on the Eastern Promenade and throughout Portland, serving up cold brew and espresso-based drinks made with Speckled Ax coffee as well as a house-made chai. Thicket Jewelry sells minimal botanical jewelry, made from found and foraged natural objects cast in fine metal. Together they hope to create a home for craft and ritual and things done carefully with great love.

In an official statement made on Instagram:
“If you know Moonday, you probably know Thicket Jewelry – the most beautiful and badass minimal botanical jewelry, made from found and foraged natural objects cast in fine metal. And if you’re here in Portland, you likely know how awesome the Black Boxes are. If you’re not, or you don’t – well, I guess you’ll just have to come visit. Moonday and Thicket are planting our filaments and setting up shop together, in the sunny north unit of The Black Box! It’ll be a retail space for Thicket and a micro (but mighty) coffee bar. We’re stoked for this chance to create a home for craft and ritual and things done carefully and with great love.
We’ve already started to move in and build out, so keep your big fuzzy ears open for updates – we’re hoping to fling the doors open in the next couple of weeks!
And hey, neighbors! Onggi Ferments, Alice Yardley, North Optical, and the rest of the Wash Avers – you guys are awesome, we can’t wait to share this little corner of town with you, and I look forward to feeding you pretty cappies all day”
