Portland’s culinary scene is about to get even more exciting with the arrival of Tuan Yuan Hotpot (Facebook), a Sichuan-style hot pot restaurant set to open at 29 Forest Avenue before the end of the year. This marks the second restaurant venture for Qi Shen, the talented owner behind the beloved Sichuan Kitchen on Congress Street. Shen hopes to bring the community a unique dining experience that blends traditional Chinese flavors with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Located inside the Portland Stage building, the newly renovated 2,700-square-foot space at Tuan Yuan Hotpot offers a spacious dining experience. The restaurant’s liquor license application gives a sneak peek at its enticing menu, which includes standout options such as Miyazaki Wagyu, Twin Lobster Tails, Ton-Toro Pork Cheek, and more.
Qi Shen first introduced Portland to the rich, authentic flavors of her home province when she opened Sichuan Kitchen at 612 Congress Street in January 2017. Now, with Tuan Yuan Hotpot, she’s poised to offer yet another delicious window into the diverse world of Sichuan cuisine.
