Lights, camera, action! 🎥 The Maine Outdoor Film Festival is set to take place again this July in Portland out on the Eastern Promenade & virtually with dates running from July 29th, 2021 until August 8th, 2021.
Dating back to 2012 & originating in The Forks, Maine, The Maine Outdoor Film Festival is an international festival of adventure, conservation & the arts where both filmmakers & attendees can enjoy over 60 films, panel discussions, filmmaker & VIP networking events, Portland’s robust beer & foodie scene, & a multitude of outdoor recreation opportunities. Originally a tour throughout 16 towns in nine counties, 2020 was the first year that this multi-day flagship event was held in Portland despite the pandemic.
Awarding over $5,000 to Maine Filmmakers since 2017, this year, two Maine filmmakers will win a $500 cash prize each for either Best Maine Film or Best Maine Student Film. Category entries include Feature (40 minutes or more), Short Feature (12 minutes to 40 minutes) & Short (up to 12 minutes), & as per the requirements, all entries must be an outdoor film. According to MOFF founder & director, Nick Callanan, an outdoor film can qualify as, “any project that centers on outdoor adventure, recreation, or conservation.” Final submission deadline is June 1st with festival selections & schedule line-up announced June 24th.
Festival Gold Pass pre-sale started March 20th & single tickets will open May 1st & are expected to sell out. All screening dates are subject to weather & forces beyond control & all screenings will follow the letter & spirit of prevailing safety guidelines, including crowd limits, social distancing, & face mask recommendations.
