Insomnia Cookies (Website|Instagram|Facebook) is getting ready to open its first Maine location in the Old Port.
The new bakery will be located at 53 Wharf Street, at the corner of Wharf and Union Streets, beneath the Fore & Wharf clothing store.
The company was founded in 2003 by a group of college friends at the University of Pennsylvania, who wanted a place offering late-night snacks. They opened their first store in Syracuse, NY, in 2006 and have since expanded across the country. This past summer, they reached 300 stores in the U.S., and Portland is one of several new locations planned for this fall.
Although an opening date hasn’t been announced yet, construction is in progress. Stay tuned for further updates.
