Oxbow Brewing Company has announced plans to acquire Rising Tide Brewing Company by the end of 2024. The two Maine-based breweries, which have shared a collaborative relationship since the early 2010s, will continue to operate independently under Rising Tide’s name despite the new ownership structure.
Heather Sanborn, co-founder of Rising Tide, will be stepping away from the beer industry to focus on a career in public policy. Meanwhile, her partner and fellow co-founder, Nathan Sanborn, will remain with the brewery, taking on the role of director of brewing operations.
In a statement about the acquisition, Oxbow founder and president Tim Adams shared his admiration for Heather’s contributions to Maine’s craft beer community:
“Heather has been an instrumental figure in Maine’s beer scene, both with her industry-changing policy work on behalf of the Maine Brewers Guild and with the wonderful beers and community she and Nathan created at Rising Tide. We are honored to be taking the torch and excited for the future of this beloved brand.”
This marks a significant moment for both breweries and Maine’s craft beer scene as they continue to evolve and grow.
