Every year on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day is a day to celebrate the color green, four-leaf clovers, and drinking (the latter evidenced by 6 a.m. bar-openings). Here are all of the events happening in Portland this St. Patrick’s Day!
St. Patrick’s Day Plunge + Irish Breakfast – Ri Ra Portland
I’m putting Portland’s Irish pubs as the first few listings here because they know how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day properly. Ri Ra’s never disappoints with their celebrations. They’re partnering with the Portland Firefighter’s Children’s Burn Foundation for the 15th year to bring Portland the St. Paddy’s Day Plunge + Irish Breakfast, with a portion of ticket sales going to the foundation. Tickets are $50 and you receive an Irish breakfast, VIP entry into the pub (between 6am-7am), a Guinness, and a Guinness glass. Here is the list of bands playing at Ri Ri all day:
Maine Public Safety Pipe Band 9:30-10 a.m.
Stillson School of Irish Dance Stepdancers at 11:45 a.m.
The Keenans Irish Duo from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Kilcollins from 6-9 p.m. and from 10 p.m.-1 a.m.
Kegs and Eggs – Bull Feeney’s
Starting at 7 a.m., Bull Feeney’s will be serving drink specials with a band line-up all day.

Starting at 11 a.m., The Thirsty Pig will be hosting their own version of St. Patrick’s Day. They’ll be serving corned beef and cabbage sausage specials all day along with drink specials, live acoustic music with James Wholey, and much more!

Rosie’s will be having a special Irish menu with dishes such as a corned beef Rueben and smokey Guinness macaroni and cheese. They’re also having drink specials – think $4 Guinness drafts and $7 Irish car bombs.

Each of these Wharf Street locations will have drink specials and live music.
