Here’s a fact for you: On an average year, restaurants & the foodservice industry are responsible for two-thirds of seafood sales in the US.
However, the current COVID-19 pandemic has hit some of Maine’s most beloved spots in an unfortunate manner. That’s why on Wednesday, December 16th, The Gulf of Maine Research Institute, in support of their Culinary Partners, presents Split The Seafood Bill Day. On this day, they will be offering to split the cost of takeout or dine-in orders when you order a seafood dish from these participating restaurants:
Greater Portland & Beyond:
Sea Glass Restaurant at Inn by the Sea
King Eider’s Pub
Shade at Higgins Beach Inn
Black Point Inn
Black Trumpet Bistro
Cliff House Maine
Robert’s Maine Grill
O’ Oysters Mobile Food Cart
How does it work once you’ve ordered? To be reimbursed you’ll need to take TWO photos, the first of your seafood dish & the latter of your receipt. Once done, you’ll need to complete & submit your reimbursement form to receive compensation for 50% of your (non-alcohol) receipt, up to $30 total. If you are one of the first 200 people to submit & your form is approved, you’ll receive a check in the mail in 2-4 weeks.
Lastly, be sure to tell your friends by posting a photo of your meal with the hashtag #SplitTheSeafoodBill & give a shout out to the restaurant as well as The Gulf Of Maine Research Institute on Instagram (@gulfofmaineresearchinstitute), Facebook (@gulfofmaine), & Twitter (@GMRI).
Terms & conditions: Receipt must include a seafood dish Reimbursement is for the first 200 reimbursement forms received & approved. The Gulf of Maine Research & Institute will reimburse 50% of your bill, up to $30 total (excluding alcohol).
