I don’t spend too much time in the East End but there are 2 major exceptions to that rule. The first is East End Beach with my dog, the second is The Front Room Restaurant. Whether I’m jonesing for brioche French toast at brunch or a hearty soul-satisfying dinner I know just where to go. The Front Room serves up “New American Comfort Food”, but it goes beyond the food. The Front Room exudes comfort in every way; from their cozy and rustic atmosphere to their prime location in the inviting and vibrant East End neighborhood.

Just a peek at the menu brings back memories of traditional New England favorites such as franks and beans with brown bread or grilled meatloaf wrapped in bacon. You’ll find all your favorite comfort foods re-imagined with a fresh, refined twist. In addition to hearty entrees there are plenty of salads, appetizers and pasta dishes to choose from. For dinner The Front Room offers a plethora of specials, a list that I just couldn’t resist on my most recent visit. I chose a bacon wrapped pork loin atop polenta with green beans. Nothing beats pig wrapped in pig. I expected it to be phenomenal and it didn’t disappoint!

The combination of mild creamy polenta, crisp salty bacon and juicy pork was nothing short of taste bud ecstasy. Even the green beans were delicious, balancing out the heavier components of the meal with crunch and mild acidity. The portion size was enough for two meals, which made for a fantastic lunch the next day. I can’t find anything I don’t like about my experiences at The Front Room. Each visit is like a new chapter in a favorite book, leaving me excited for what will come next.
