The Labor Day Weekend Guide for Aug 31st – Sept 3rd

Labor Day Weekend means it’s time to pack your weekend with fun things to do to prepare you to do a whole lot of  n o t h i n g other than eating barbeque food on Monday. That’s what Labor Day’s all about… Right?!

Friday

Beer, check, oysters, check, sunshine, check. Three of our favorite things will be at Rising Tide Brewing Company starting at 4 pm. Will you?

It would just be plain inappropriate to start a summer holiday weekend in Portland without listening to some live music on the Porthole patio (the largest waterfront patio in Portland). Rock out with Ragged Jack from 7-11 pm!

Geno’s Rock Club is holding their second annual Punk Rock Luau! Break out your cabana gear, cutoffs, Bermuda shorts, and Hawaiian shirts to enjoy music by locals Port City Saints, The Keeper Class, Not30, and Random Ideas at 8:30 pm!

Brian Boru is hosting a Summer Send-Off Party, so break out your best summer/tropical attire for its’ beach theme! With a custom light show and crazy amounts of decorations, this is not a show to miss.

Saturday

What could be more peaceful than yoga on Peaks Island? Jill Schnorr Reiki & Yoga is hosting a Donation Yoga session from 1-2 pm in one of the most beautiful locations you could ask for! Bring your own mat and dare to connect with nature!

Spend Labor Day weekend exploring beaches and relaxing at a concert venue like no other: historic House Island in Casco Bay. Rockin’ on the Bay music festival will run Saturday and Sunday and feature rock music from all eras with performances by local favorites, Bissell Brothers beer and other beverages, and food provided by Flatbread Company, Totally Awesome Vegan Food Truck, Bite Into Maine, and more! Proceeds benefit the Cap Mona Angel Fund.

It’s One More Saturday Night with a Band Beyond Description on the deck at Portland Lobster Company! Anytime we can get beer, lobster, and live music on the waterfront is a good night. It starts at 7 pm!

Sunday

Catch the ferry at Casco Bay Ferry Terminal to Peaks Island for some fun in the sun at Jones Landing in the form of Reggae Sunday! The doors open at 11 am and the reggae music gets things going at 1 pm.

It’s Portland’s very first Bacon-Bourbon-Beer-Fest and it’s being hosted by Roma Cafe and Bramhall Pub! Featuring live music, Bramhall’s favorite bourbons, local beer, bacon from Broad Arrow Farm and bacon-centric dishes by five local food vendors which will be available for purchase and submitted to a panel of judges for a competition. Bacon lovers unite!

This week’s Sunday Night Stand Up! Is brought to you by Lone Pine Brewing Co. at Empire Live Music & Events, featuring local comedians Rob Crean and Cher Lynn! Doors open at 8 pm, show begins at 8:45 pm!

Monday

Relax!
