Live Music You Can’t Miss in Portland This Week!
Fall is officially here, and while outdoor music is winding down, there are still plenty of shows happening at venues across Portland! On Friday, September 27th, Rose Alley, a tribute band honoring the legendary Jerry Garcia, will be performing his iconic songs at Bayside Bowl. Then, on October 1st, Briston Maroney takes the stage at the State Theatre after a whirlwind summer touring with Vance Joy and Noah Kahan, along with playing at music festivals around the globe.

THE HEADLINER

Briston Maroney, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, grew up between Tennessee and Florida before settling in Nashville. He started out playing house shows, slowly building a dedicated fan base, which eventually led to his first record deal with Atlantic Records. Following the release of Ultrapure, Maroney went on to headline sold-out shows and has also opened for Vance Joy and Noah Kahan. He’s performed at festivals like Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and All Things Go, and each fall, he hosts his own three-night event in Nashville, the Paradise Festival.

Rose Alley pays tribute to the music of Jerry Garcia and the Jerry Garcia Band, featuring a lineup of seasoned musicians from the Maine music scene: Kevin Roper, Aaron Nadeau, Neil Carroll, and Drew Wyman. While staying true to the authentic sound of the Garcia Band, they bring their own unique touch, drawing from their collective musical backgrounds. Known for their three-part harmonies and energetic jams, Rose Alley delivers a captivating live experience.

Angel Olsen is a songwriter and musician known for her heartfelt songs and unique voice with a touch of vintage country. Over the years, her music has expanded from simple acoustic tunes to more complex and dramatic sounds. She’s been featured on shows like The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, as well as in The New York Times Magazine and Rolling Stone. On this tour, Angel will perform solo, playing songs from her full catalog, including some she doesn’t often perform with her band.

Dirty Honey, a Los Angeles-based rock quartet, quickly made a name for themselves. In 2019, they became the first unsigned band to hit #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream and Hard Rock Charts with their debut single, “When I’m Gone.” Since then, they’ve opened for acts like The Who, Guns N’ Roses, and The Black Crowes, earning praise and standing ovations along the way. Their self-titled album debuted at #2 on the Current Hard Rock Chart, and Rolling Stone named them an “Artist You Need to Know.”
