DJ Drewski will be accompanied by Kreitzman, an up-and-coming House DJ born and raised in the great state of Maine. You can expect everything from Tech House to Future House!
Rose Foods Sandwich Series| Rose Foods | 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Repeats Saturday & Sunday) The beloved Forest Avenue bagel shop is bringing back its sandwich series to kick off the start of the month! Happening all weekend and on multiple dates into May, Rose Foods will welcome a rotation of local restaurants, food-centric shops, bakeries, etc., each of which will present their own special sandwich available that weekend only. First up? Mr. Tuna! Mr. Tuna’s bespoke creation: Black pepper smoked blue fish with pickled ginger and scallion cream cheese, plus red onion, cucumber and shiso on a furikake bagel.
Tall Tales from the Tower | Portland Observatory Museum| 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM In the spirit of April Fool’s Day, Greater Portland Landmarks invites you to enjoy Tall Tales From the Tower, a guided tour. Attendees will listen to three short stories on their way to the top. Two will be made up and one will be true. If the group chooses the correct story, they will proceed to the top. If they do not, well, they will just have to wait and see what happens. Remember – the Observatory is not heated so please dress warmly. Masks are required regardless of vaccination status. First Friday Art Walk: “The Whole Thing” Opening Reception| Francis Hotel | 5: 00 PM – 8:00 PM
An evening of music, drinks, and art! The Francis Hotel on Congress Street will be unveiling Tara Rook’s springtime art show, “The Whole Thing”, as part of Portland’s First Friday Art Walk. Specializing in pen and ink illustrations, Tara’s mission through her work as an artist is to create mindful art with love. She expresses gratitude and appreciation by illustrating themes of nature, Maine, anatomy and physiology, the healing arts, flora and fauna, and her love of traveling to distant places. Throughout the evening you’ll also have the chance to hear incredible sets by Just Milk, Tara’s electronic music project. Think glowing synth-pop, dark disco, and dreamy folk vocals. Kinda dancey, kinda chill. Beer & wine from Wayside Tavern will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
The Beach Boys: Sixty Years of the Sounds of Summer | Merrill Auditorium | 7:00 PM The Beach Boys – who have become synonymous with the California lifestyle and an American icon, are bringing their “Sixty Years of the Sounds of Summer” tour to fans around the world. The Beach Boys are currently led by Mike Love, who, along with longtime member Bruce Johnston, musical director Scott Totten, Brian Eichenberger, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Keith Hubacher and Randy Leago continue the legacy of the iconic band. Alice Limoges | Port City Blue | 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM Alice Limoges has a voice reminiscent of a young Fiona Apple, possesses a powerful, strong voice with the heart and soul of a classic folk troubadour! Alice has released four independent albums to date. Her song “No One Underneath” was a semi-finalist in the 2019 International Songwriting Competition. She played on the Grammy Award winning album “Ageless: Songs For The Child Archetype” by Jon Samson. Her new song and accompanying music video “China We Don’t Use” explores the intangibility of love, even familiar love, when our mental health is poor and we struggle to feel comfortable in our own bodies.
