The Weekend Guide for February 21st-23rd

Head to Portland, Maine and check out all the amazing events this weekend! You could see a play, compete in an MC battle, attend a potluck brunch, or laugh at a comedy show! Grab your friends or your family and have a good weekend! 

Friday

Elephant and Piggie’s We Are in a Play is showing again this weekend! Grab a ticket to Friday’s 1 o’clock show or one of Saturday’s performances! Tickets are $12 for the play or $18 for the performance and museum admission. Members receive a 10% discount.

Watch Trolls on the big screen at Merrill Auditorium! This is a free event for all ages. The doors open at 3 pm and the movie starts at 4 pm. A special guest will be there too so come early! 

Spit a verse at the 12th Annual Ruckus Cup Classic MC Battle and win a $1,000 cash prize. This freestyle MC battle will take place from 8 pm-1 am at Aura. Contestants must sign up in person the night of the show. Tickets are $15 and this is an 18+ event. 

Cherry Lemonade Presents a Tribute to Amy Winehouse at Port City Music Hall at 8 pm. Tickets are $20 and $35 for preferred seating. Doors open at 7 pm and the show starts at 8 pm. This is an 18+ event.

See C.J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band at the Portland House of Music and Events from 9 pm-1 am. This event is presented by the North Atlantic Blues Festival and The Renovators will be making a special guest appearance. The doors will open at 8 pm and the music begins at 9 pm. Tickets are $40 and this is a 21+ show.

Catch Late Nite Comedy at Empire Comedy Club from 10 pm-12 am. Tickets are $5. This is a 21+ event so don’t forget your ID!

Saturday

The Girls Pint Out Kickoff Party will be at Allagash Brewing Company from 5-8 pm. This event is for all women, non-binary, and trans folks who love beer! Head over and enter the bottle raffle, meet fellow beer enthusiasts, and drink delicious beers! 

Mike Cannon will be at Empire Comedy Club from 7-9:30 pm. Cannon has been on Comedy Central, TruTV, Sirius XM and more! Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 day of. This is an 18+ event. 

State Theatre is hosting Masters of Illusion at 8 pm. This show stars award-winning magicians and their fantastical illusions that will make your jaws drop. Tickets are from $35-$55 and this is an all-ages event.

Dance at Mainely House: Featuring DJ Eludis at FLASK LOUNGE to celebrate the underground music and dance scene from 9 pm-1 am!  

Get your funk on with Gina and the Red Eye Flight Crew at Gritty McDuff’s from 9:30 pm-12:30 am. No cover, lots of fun!

Sunday

Make Magic Mood Mud at the Color Changing Play Dough Workshop at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine! Learn about heat with this thermochromic craft! This event begins at 11:30 am and is $8. Members receive a 10% discount. Please note that the elevator is under repair and not in service. 

Bring a dish to this Potluck Brunch Buffet at Blackstones from 12-2 pm. There will be $5 Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s available! 

Head to Bull Feeney’s for Ceili from 3-5 pm. This event is sponsored by the Irish American Club and features dancing and fun! No dance experience necessary!

Check out ComedySportz Maine at The Gold Room from 5-6:30 pm. This event features professional improvisers who play off of audience suggestions. Tickets are $15. This is a kid-friendly event. 

Dance to Sundaze ft. Ekomsdub & Subsequence at FLASK LOUNGE from 9 pm-1 am. There’s no cover charge and this is a 21+ event
