The Weekend Guide for Jan 4th – 7th

There’s nothing more brutal than the first week back at work after the holidays, and nothing sweeter than spending the following weekend in the Old Port to kick off another great year!

Friday

Now that the holiday season is over, shop at this month’s First Friday Art Walk for yourself, minus the guilt. January’s installment includes shows and programming at shops, galleries, and various other venues throughout the city starting at 5 pm.

Curious about what happens at Fork Food Lab? Go check it out at their Open House with beer and wine available and member goods for sale and tours of the facility on the half hour. They open up their doors at 5 pm!

Enjoy a blast from the past and some of the best music of the 2000’s when Ja Rule plays Aura! You must be 18 or older to be Livin’ It Up at this show. Always on time? Be there when the doors open at 8 pm.

It wouldn’t be a first Friday without stopping by Bull Feeney’s to enjoy a pint and some new and old tunes by Danny & Jake of the Dapper Gents! The music starts at 9:30.

Saturday

Have you ever wanted to try Pilates? 2019 is the year of trying new things, haven’t you heard? Springboard Pilates is offering FREE intro to Pilates workshops throughout January, starting promptly Saturday at 9 am.

Break the kids out of the house to enjoy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. This musical version of the story is being brought to the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine at 1 pm!

Back for more! Dan & the Wildfire are back in the Urban Farm Fermentory tasting room for another Afternoon Acoustic session. Original Folk, blues, rock, and Americana featuring guitar, banjo, trumpet, and beautiful harmonies make this show not to be missed! It starts at 3 pm, and did we mention it’s free?!

You’re invited to a fiesta! Join Margaritas for their 30th Anniversary Celebration starting at 5 pm! There’ll be a live DJ, $2 jello shots, and copious amounts of cervezas & tequila.

Sunday

Do your good deed for the day at a Beans & Beaches Coffee Meet-Up & Beach Clean-Up! Meet the good people of For the Oceans at Coffee By Design at 10 am for your caffeinated drink of choice with your trash bags and gloves in tow, and you’re ready to go!

Nothing to ease you on out of your Sunday Scaries and get you ready for the week than Sunday Jazz Brunch with the Bruce Couillard trio & Friends starting at 11 am at Maine Craft Distilling

What can you find at Oxbow Blending & Bottling starting at 2 pm? Endless Pastabilities, that’s what. $40 gets you a pasta packet with pasta dough making kit to take home, Duckfat Frites Shack Frites, and an 8oz fresh draft Oxbow pour.
