The Weekend Guide for July 6th – July 8th

Cool off from a humid week in the Old Port with some AC, live music, and drinks on this lovely First Friday. We’ve got just the trick.

Friday

Start your weekend off right with a stop at Vena’s Fizz House, where they’re celebrating their 5th anniversary all weekend long, starting with a Bitters Tasting featuring 15% off all bitters from 2-5 pm!

This week might have felt like Monday-Tuesday-Sunday-Monday-Tuesday with the holiday in the middle of the week, but it’s finally Friday and the First Friday Art Walk is here! Enjoy beautiful art, shows, food, drinks, and programming at dozens of venues throughout the entire city from 5-8 pm.

It’s not officially a summer weekend until you enjoy some live music on Portland’s largest waterfront deck at The Porthole. This week they’re featuring the Tilden Katz Band, so you know where to catch some good music (and maybe a buzz) after work.

The music continues at Bull Feeney’s where you can hear a Portland favorite, the Dapper Gents every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month while you enjoy a proper Irish pint starting at 9:30 pm.

Saturday

Celebrate Maine’s favorite crustacean at Down East’s Lobster Roll World Championship at Brick South on Thompson’s Point! Sample lobster rolls from 10 competing chefs and vote for your favorite to help determine the World Champion, starting just in time for lunch at noon!

Step outside the Old Port for Sails & Pales at Geary Brewing Company, featuring lunch from Fishin’ Ships, shopping at Sea Bags’ mobile store, live music from Dave Rowe, and of course some fresh brewed Geary’s.

Dancers welcome for honky tonk, traditional country music, delicious drinks, and even better barbecue as Mule Train plays at Salvage BBQ starting at 8:30 pm!

Sunday

Meet Hustle & Flow on the rooftop at Bayside Bowl with your mat and some water for a morning flow with hands-on enhancements and lots of loving energy, starting at 9:15 am.

The Thirsty Pig’s monthly brunch is back, this time they’re providing a vegetarian forward menu, and as always, mimosas starting at 11 am!

You definitely won’t be the only guy in town with your tight pants on at the 5th Anniversary extravaganza that is Vena’s Fizz House’s Tight White Pants Dance Party. Get your tight, white pants on and meet on Silver Street, which will be closed from 2-3 pm for dancing Will Ferrell-style. The event is rain or shine and prizes will be awarded to those with the tightest pants, the whitest pants, and other categories! Get your tickets now!

School’s out for the summer, so it’s ok to get a little Slightly Stoopid in your life. They’re performing at Maine State Pier starting at 4:30 pm with special guests Stick Figure and Pepper.
