The Weekend Guide for May 10th – 12th

Although Friday has a 100% chance of rain basically all day, this weekend is looking up in Portland weather-wise! It may be a little cloudy but it’s going to be warm with basically no chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday. Spring has finally sprung and we are ready with some great events for you this weekend!

Friday

Kick off Urban Farm Fermantory’s summer hours with music by Tumbledown and sushi by Mr. Tuna! Tumbledown is a local band that gorgeously blends original soul, rock, blues and funk. Head to UFF at 7 pm for a great night with great drinks. Totally free concert, all are welcome.

The Nightshades are bringing an authentic NOLA music vibe to the Thirsty Pig at 7pm! Their swamp funk and bayou groove music is sure to have you dancing while eating your sausage and enjoying a beer.

Delta Rae are bringing their tour to support their new album A Long and Happy Life to Portland! Their American Folk Rock vibe has earned them coveted spots at many big-time festivals. Doors open at 7 pm at Port City Music Hall.

McQueen from Comedy Central’s Funny or Die is gracing Portland with his Reggie Watts meets DaftPunk as McQueen creates a new universe of original songs! Door open at 8 pm at Empire Live Music & Events.

After a long week of sitting at your desk waiting for the weekend, I’m sure you could use some Chakra Balancing Exploration. Kelly Rich will be giving a brief introduction to what the chakra system is followed by some Vinyasa and visualizations, ending with restorative postures and guided meditation. Starts at 7 pm.

Saturday

Saturday’s are for the laughs! Head to Empire Live Music & Events at 8:30 pm for the incredibly popular Make Me Laugh gameshow. Come out and see your favorite local comedians, as previous winners try to defend their title!

Join Sommelier Erica Archer for a guided viticultural tasting and walking tour of Portland vibrant restaurant scene! Explore delicious examples of Pinot Noir wines paired with delicious food at four great establishments. Begins at 2:30 pm.  

Sunday

Melissa Etheridge is bringing her The Medicine Show tour to the State Theater! This album is heavily influenced by health, wellness, and cannabis. This is her 14th album and brings a new level of artistry. Doors open at 7 pm.

Sunday’s on the Boulevard are BACK and the weather looks wonderful for this Sunday. If you aren’t aware of how great they are, Baxter Boulevard, which has one of the best views in Portland, is closed off from traffic between Vannah Ave and the Payson Park entrance. It becomes the perfect urban oasis for bikers, runners, walkers, skateboarders and anyone else who wants to enjoy a beautiful Sunday.

Blue’s and Brunch make the perfect pair! Head to $3 Dewey’s for great music by Justin Jaymes and great food! Begins at 10 am.

Gritty’s Game nights are the best way to prepare for a long week ahead. Play Smash Bro’s and Mario Cart on the Nintendo Switch, and prove you’re no noob. Starts at 4 pm. Must be 21+ to play!
