The Weekend Guide for Nov 30th – Dec 2nd

We’re ready for a weekend of holiday cheer and maybe a few beers. How about you?

Friday

Start your weekend out with a ride aboard the Polar Express with the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad! Enjoy the festive atmosphere, meet the Conductor, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, and listen to a reading of the enchanting story as you journey to the “North Pole.”

We’re all about killing two birds with one stone, which is exactly what you can do all weekend (and every weekend until Christmas) at Oxbow, where they’ll have Christmas trees for purchase along with some delicious holiday beers on draft.

Celebrate the season with a cold beer and local oysters at Rising Tide’s monthly beer and oysters event with O’Oysters starting at 4 pm.

The Dapper Gents are one of Portland’s favorite bands and they’re playing at Bull Feeney’s starting at 9:30 pm! Enjoy a nightcap and the modern indie folk rock vibes.

Saturday

Join The Rink at Thompson’s Point for the Grand Re-Opening of their 4th year of fun, starting at 10 am! Offering all-day skating passes, season passes, gift cards, and rental skates!

It’s time to go “one louder” and get ready for the 11th annual Santacon! From 4-11, join fellow Santas for “cheers” and “ho ho hos” at Mr. Claus’s favorite Old Port watering holes!

Lavender is hosting a Ladies’ Night Out filled with Barre, Hair, Skin, and Wellness with them, The Rooted Collective, Nutrition Simplified, and Health Resonates that will include a 45-minute Barre class (BYOM), quick holiday hairstyle tutorials, skin care demos, and samples, and holiday-themed, plant-based smoothies for refueling your body. It starts at 4 pm!

Raging Brass plays a blend of world music and popular dance styles from Africa. Joined together by the tradition of New Orleans brass bands, this 7-piece ensemble refers to their sound as Brass-Roots Music, and they’re bringing it to Portland House of Music at 8 pm.

Sunday

The 3rd annual Tidings Craft & Art Fair, happening at Portland’s Ocean Gateway, starts at 10 am and will bring unique offerings from almost 40 local makers and artists, while you listen to some live music and enjoy local food!

Get in touch with your sensitive side with Sensitive Men, a band hailing from New Hampshire that takes alt/folk to a new level, as they play Bissell Brothers starting at 3 pm for your Sunday Funday enjoyment.

After that, mosey on down to the Porthole for their 4th Annual Shop n’ Sip Craft Fair from 2-5 pm! Happy Hour is from 1-4 and will offer $4 well drinks, $3 wines, and $2 and $3 bottled and draft beers. We’re pretty sure there’s no better way to shop.
