The Weekend Guide for Nov 3rd – 5th, 2017

After a rough (and a bit dark) week, it’s time to unwind and there’s no better place to do it than the Old Port… Because, well, we’ve got the power!

Your weekend isn’t really kicked off until you head over to Stroudwater Distillery for Happy Hour! From 5-7, enjoy seasonal drink specials for just $6.

Who’s in a bluesy mood? Meet up at the Portland House of Music & Events for An Evening with David Bromberg Quintet, a world renowned group centered around the godfather of Americana. This event is all ages and the doors open at 7 (music at 8).

Country music fans can head on over to Brian Boru at 9 for a Dalton & The Sheriffs Show! This Boston-based band is a star on the rise that you don’t want to miss!

If you like to keep things more beat-centric, join Empire Live Music & Events for a night of golden era hip-hop and R&B classics by DJ KTF! Come out at 10 pm to hear your favorite 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s music from Biggie, DMX, Nelly, Blackstreet, and so many more of your favorites.

We know it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but get a head start anyway by stopping by the Italian Heritage Center for their Annual Christmas Fair! Starting at 9 am and ending at 4 pm, this event boasts free admission, free parking, Italian food & pastries, morning coffee bar, over 50 New England Crafters, and plenty of raffles!

Come out for the kids! The Kids Are Alright, an event by MAMM a family friendly local music series aimed at encouraging children’s involvement in the arts at 10:30 am at the Sam L. Cohen Children’s Library!

Who doesn’t love some Fleetwood Mac? Don’t miss a tribute to them at 8 pm at the Portland House of Music & Events (tickets just $8 when you buy them in advance).

The Art Of Songwriting will feature musical acts by 5 incredible songwriters, as well as the premiere of a short documentary highlighting the life of a songwriter by Dan Tedesco entitled “Chasing The Lightning”. Check it out at 8 pm at Empire Live Music & Events (just $7/head).

Before heading down to the Maine Women’s Expo, make a stop on Upper Exchange at Crooners & Cocktails for the best brunch in town! We’re headed straight for the Ham Steak Benedict with a side of a Crooners Bloody (for the added nutrients, of course). Brunch begins at 10 am!

Ok now ladies, it’s time for the Maine Women’s Expo! Happening at Brick South on Thompson’s Point starting 12 pm! Enjoy an afternoon of entertainment, filled with yoga, dancing, beauty & cosmetic consultation, fashion & accessory advice, DIY, food wine, live music, and so much more!

End your day of rest with some country music at Aura! Chart-topping duo Thompson Square will be hitting their stage at 8 pm and play their beloved hits and some new ones as well!
