The Weekend Guide for Oct 13th – 15th, 2017

Happy Friday the 13th! The Old Port isn’t scared of anything… The fun must go on! And boy, is it going to.

Friday

It’s Friday the 13th! Get your weekend started off in a creepy way at the Damnationland 2017 film showcase at the State Theatre. The event begins at 7:45 pm and will feature “11 messed up films by Maine filmmakers.” Very on theme with the date!

OR if you’re more in the mood for some music and great BBQ, grab yourself some ribs with a side of mac n’ cheese for the Aces show at Salvage! Music starts at 8:30!

Fat Knuckle Freddy fans (try saying that five times fast) can gather at Blue tonight at 6, where they’re going fully acoustic for an American Primitive set. Joined by Olive Tiger and el malo, it’s sure to be a fun, diverse, and highly danceable show.

Get ready to rock at Aura tonight as Blue October hits the stage! The doors open at 8 and tickets can still be purchased on Ticketmaster!

Saturday

Get a healthy and zen start to your day with Bootcamp, Yoga, and Kombucha at Urban Farm Fermentory! This event starts at 9 and ends with socializing over a flight of kombucha!

A brand new Old Port establishment will be celebrating their grand opening from 8 am-6 pm! Higher Grounds, located at 45 Wharf Street, will be serving coffee, curated local foods, and artisanal Maine goods and wellness products, with samples, tastings, and specials galore!

In celebration of their big USA Today “Best Craft Gin Distillery in America” win, Hardshore Distilling is throwing a Fall “Thank You” Pig Roast! Join them at the distillery for a 172-pound hog, roasted by Terlingua, new drink specials, and live music starting at noon!

Another event starting at noon is Hoptoberfest at The Thirsty Pig! Celebrate the Hop Harvest and Oktoberfest all in one with them and The Hop Yard will locally harvested hops and local beer! Drink beers from over 10 Maine brewers and enjoy a special Oktoberfest menu, and live music from noon until five!

Sunday

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday night football! Is it a coincidence that Slab opens up at 3 pm with their football-friendly Sunday menu and kickoff for the first game is at 4:05… We think not.

The 3rd Annual Portland Lantern Walk, hosted by Friends of Deering Oaks will take place in the park from 5-7! Don’t forget to BYOL (bring your own lantern!)

An evening with David Sedaris at the Merrill Auditorium will feature a reading and signing with the noted humorist, comedian, author, and NPR contributor from 7-9pm.
