News Update
Anything from recent closings, openings, and headliners:
- Each category in the Portland Old Port’s Best of 2024 Awards has been narrowed down to the final ten. If your original vote is no longer in the running, you will have to opportunity to “change vote” and select your next favorite! Reminder: Each person gets one vote per category all month. Voting is open for two more weeks, and will close on July 31st at 11:59pm. VOTE NOW.
- Leisure Time Cocktail Co. is set to open this Wednesday, July 24th at Thompson’s Point. Taking over Rwanda Bean’s former coffee shop, Leisure Time Cocktail Co. is brought to Portland by Owners Kai Parrott-Wolfe and Matt Noyes and is “a small batch craft cocktail company out of Portland, Maine. Bringing craft cocktails/spirits to a wide audience using traditional and modern techniques.” Their food menu features pierogis with multiple options for fillings, hand cased sausages and hot dogs, rotating salads and other bites.
Pasta Andare will be hosting their first pop-up on Saturday, July 27th at 576 Congress Street. A Portland pop-up, Pasta Andare brings a modern American twist to classic Italian pasta recipes, in an exciting to-go experience. Their vision is to redefine what “fast-casual” food can be, crafting delicious and high-quality pasta dishes made with fresh ingredients. Menu features three different options: Walnut Pesto, Tuscan Chicken, and Gochujang Arrabiata.
- Owners Deen Haleem and Carol Mitchell have announced that they will be reopening TIQA on Commercial Street. Closed back in April of 2023, the reopening is set to hopefully happen in the next few weeks. Under a new Executive Chef, Philip Sokowolski, TIQA will be offering a new menu but will still be serving Mediterranean cuisine.
- Quanto Basta celebrated their first anniversary last week.
- Twelve celebrated their 2nd anniversary.

- Bar Publica is now offering happy hour Monday – Friday from 3pm – 6pm. 1/2 off dogs, $5 margs, $10 Espresso Martini and more.
- Crispy Gai is hosting a Gaa Eng special Thai Supper Club Dining Experience on on Tuesday, July 30th. Walk ins only.
- Three of Strong Spirits is hosting a Working Title Tour & Tasting with Master Distiller Graham Hamblett on Friday, August 9th as part of their 5th Anniversary Month Celebrations.
- The St. Peter’s Annual Italian Bazaar will be held Friday, August 9th and Saturday, August 10th. Italian food and pastries, games, live music and more.
Ongoing Events
- Three of Strong Spirits’ 5th Annual Punch Contest is happening right now. Competitors are asked to make a fantastic, one-of-a-kind rum punch using their namesake rhyme and featuring their spirits. Submissions due by midnight Wednesday, July 31st. You can join for their 5th Anniversary Extravaganza on Saturday, August 17 to vote for your favorite of the top 3 recipes.
- Maine Craft Distilling will be hosting their annual SeaGrass Music Festival on Sunday, September 15th. Join for cold drinks, good food, live music and family fun.
- Harvest on the Harbor has been announced for October 24th – 26th, 2024. Enjoy the best of Maine’s food and drink scene with top chefs, local distillers, fantastic brands, and talented artisans of all sorts. Tickets on sale now.
