Friday, July 24: If you haven’t heard yet, there is a beer festival going on this weekend that’s kind of a big deal. Like, really big. And in anticipation of said festival, there are a couple of pre-gaming events going down tonight that you should check out, even if you can’t make it to the main event. Nosh will be welcoming visiting guest brewer Lord Hobo Brewing Company from Woburn, Mass. Starting at 5pm, you can meet the brewery owner and sample four different Lord Hobo beers at $6 a pour. Nosh, 551 Congress Street. Pay as you go.
Meanwhile starting at 7 pm at The Thirsty Pig, you can join local brewers Foundation Brewing Company and Orono Brewing Company for a joint tap takeover featuring four beers from each brewer. Music will be provided by The Dapper Gents. We’re psyched to try Orono’s Existential Crisis Hibiscus Saison and Foundation’s Delusions of Grandeur, Brett-fermented Maine IPA. The Thirsty Pig, 37 Exchange Street. Pay as you go.
Saturday, July 25: Today is the day! Summer Session: Maine Brewers’ Guild 2015 Beer Festival is going to be THE beer festival of the summer. Food will also be available for purchase from a huge variety of food trucks. Attendees are welcome to BYOLawn Chair or cornhole set and really make a day of it. It’s all going down at the beautiful outdoor venue at Thompson’s Point. Tickets are $45 in advance, $55 at the gate. Designated driver tickets are $20. You will not want to miss Summer Session! Thompson’s Point, 1-5 pm. Taps shut off at 5 pm, but the venue will stay open and food trucks will stick around until 6 pm.
