Friday March 17th- Every year on March 17th, Portland Old Port turns into one giant festival of celebration for all things green! The city comes alive and showcases just what Portland Old Port is all about. This year it happens to be on a Friday, and if you haven’t got a chance to check out our personal directory of the top places to go on Saint Patrick’s Day in the Old Port, we’ve included a few of them here. Bars will be opening at 6a.m. for the day’s festivities.
This is one day in the Old Port that you don’t want to miss. Start your day off with the annual Saint Patrick’s Day Plunge & Irish Breakfast. Join RiRa Portland as they plunge at The East End Beach in order to raise funds for the Portland Firefighters Children’s Burns Foundation. A RiRa Portland tradition for the past 15 years. Registration is online at give.classy.org/paddysdayplunge. Those who dare to brave the icy waters of the Atlantic will gather at the beach at 5:30 am. Doors will then be open from 6am-7am for a complimentary St. Patrick’s Day Irish Breakfast for those jumpers who want to warm up after the plunge. A live auction and raffle will begin at 7am.

Pardon Me Doug is back at it again! New England’s premiere Phish tribute band will be at Oxbow Blending and Bottling located at 49 Washington Ave for an evening you don’t want to miss. The last Saint Patrick’s event was so much fun, they decided to do it again. Catch them rocking out from 6:30p.m. to 12:30a.m. They will have a new stage setup in a different part of the brewery. Don’t miss out!
Saturday March 18th– With a brick and mortar location in Portland Maine’s historical Old Port, Little (a children’s boutique), strives to become a sought-after destination for children’s fashion and lifestyle products. Join them Saturday morning beginning at 11a.m. as they host a free Story Time at their 42 Exchange Street location. Bring your little one and listen to some of their favorite stories about outer space adventures, silly animals and brave kids! Stay afterwards and enjoy a craft or activity that goes along with the books read. The event is open to all ages.
Fork Food Lab is hosting their Spring Market Event that will feature Cape Whoopies,White Cap Coffee, Yo’Novare, MarthaBars, Fyood Kitchen, Anchor and Rose Apothecary, Fat Pants Bakery, LLC, Replenova Farm, Renee by the Bay, Joyful Spirit, Tortillería Pachanga, Bubbe & Bestemor’s Baking Company, The Whole Almond, Alicia Bars, Dirigo Coffee, and Plucked Fresh Salsa. From 11a.m. to 3p.m., the Spring Market is a chance to tour Fork’s entire facility while learning about and tasting samples from the food makers inside their incubator. The spectrum of food and beverages made right at Fork by 27 different companies will be available for sale, as well as some local libations to sip while you check out local food vendors. The member makers at Fork can’t wait to see you and share some products they have had in R&D over the winter!

Remember a few weeks ago when Empire hosted a tribute night to Notorious B.I.G. performed live by Dray Senior and DJ Steady? Well, the first show sold out so fast, they had to add a second! Bend, Brunch, & Blarney with Ri Ra Portland and Kait Johnson starting at 11a.m. If you love yoga, brunch and good times this is the event is for you! Be Well Portland invites you to celebrate the end of St. Patrick’s Day Weekend on a healthy note. Join them as they explore how food and wine are elevated to new heights when paired together. For $8 you can be in on the fun as they welcome back to the kitchen Winter Hill Farm cheese to pair three bites with three Cellardoor wines. The pairings are first-come, first-serve.
