Hello Portland, Maine,
We are profoundly lucky to have good beer on tap in this city. There are so many places within walking distance from each other that can provide a great ex-beer-ience. I’m here to be your scout for these craft beers around the Old Port area. Follow the hashtag #PortlandBeerScout on Facebook and Twitter for an up-to-date scouting. Also, use the hashtag yourself if you see awesome beer around the Portland Old Port.
Novare Res Bier Cafe
For the cider lover there’s always Baby Jimmy from Urban Farm Fermentory, a 6.8% ABV hard cider aged in Jim Beam bourbon barrels. This cider is funky and oaky in flavor and is one of my favorite ciders. Baby Jimmy is not normally seen around town on tap.
Stone’s Enjoy By 4.20.15 IPA is another beer in their Enjoy By series of beers. They brew a dank and delicious 9.4% ABV Double IPA that’s so fresh that they put the suggested date that you should try it by in the name.
The Kings Head
BFM La Saison √225 is a delicious saison-style beer from Switzerland and weighs in at 5% ABV and you can find it at The Kings Head. It tastes a bit sour and sweet with a dry finish. You definitely don’t see this beer around much on tap.
Rising Tide Brewing Company
Your favorite sour beer Gose from Rising Tide Brewing Company is now available in cans starting today. The Gose is light and refreshing and weighs in at 3.4% ABV. You can find the cans at the Craft Bier Cellar, the Brewery on Fox Street, or at The Kings Head.
Central Provisions
Novare has Brewery Ommegang new Game of Throne’s themed beer called Three-Eyed Raven. This is a dark saison in style and weighs in at 7.2% ABV. If you like Ommegang’s Belgian-style ales and Game of Thrones than you should try this beer.
Bull Feeney’s
I saw Bull Feeney’s has Atlantic Brewing Company’s 7% ABV Scottish Ale on tap. Scottish ales are malty and full flavored, which this beer is no different. You don’t see the Scottish Ale out much on tap. Go get it.
Cheers!
