This was an incredible tour. My fiancé and I came in March and ended up being the only two on the tour. Ray was our guide and his knowledge of Portland and the New England area is incredible. Ray showed us some great food spots and some hidden gems. He was energetic and full of history with a great appreciation for the area. We will absolutely come on this tour again! We can’t stop thinking about it!!

Visited Portland from Cape Cod for 2 days/2 nights and our walking tour with Ross was definitely a highlight!! Who knew there was so much great and interesting history here in Portland. Ross shared lots of history, some great stories and was happy to answer any and all questions we had. Our final stop was the Standard Bakery where Ross treated us to chocolate chip cookies - what a NICE touch. What a delightful way to learn about Portland - Ross was terrific and we would highly recommend this tour and Maine Day Tours!!!

Our first visit to Portland, we chose the "Portland's Historic Walking Tour, A Daily Walk Through Time" with Ross as our guide. Awesome tour with a terrific guide! Ross shared many stories, lots of history, answered all of our questions, took us to some extra stops based on requests and bought us a cookie at the end. He was OUTSTANDING! Highly recommend this tour :)

First time visitors to Portland, we read an old Anthony Bourdain article about Foodie Tours, and on a whim - decided to book it. And quite happy that we did! Timothy was our guide and he was awesome and he shared his interest and knowledge about all things Portland with our group. We got to enjoy learning about, seeing the sights, talking with fellow tour members, sipping cocktails and enjoying a variety local bites from various restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2-3 hour tour and would highly recommend for a spirit with an open mind, heart and stomach! And even one member of our group was not fond of seafood but still enjoyed it because they offered options and substituted when possible. Thanks for the new memories!

Had an amazing experience on the Old Port foodie tour. Timothy was an excellent host, providing entertainment while sharing Portlands history. The stops on the tour were fantastic - one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Maine Day Ventures for anyone looking to elevate their culinary experience in Maine and the Portland area.My recent food tour with Maine Day Ventures was nothing short of exceptional. Our guide, Ray, was a captivating host who went above and beyond expectations. Not only did we have delicious food like seafood chowder, Haddock tacos, lobster rolls, chocolate and gelato but Ray also added the historical and cultural backdrop of the region into our culinary journey which made the food that much more satisfying. The tour offered an exclusive glimpse into the local fishing industry by taking us to a restaurant near the very docks where the day’s catch was landed. This added a level of authenticity and connection to the food that you simply can’t replicate by dining alone. The tour wasn’t just about eating, anyone can do that; it was an educational and social experience. We left not only full but also with more knowledge, having gained so much new information about Portland.

Had a fantastic food tour with AJ in Portland. I often do food tours when I visit cities both in the U.S. and other countries to learn and and experience different foods and hopefully learn a bit about the city so food tours aren’t new to me. AJ provided a fabulous blend of history and local info with her love of food. We had chowder and lobster rolls, haddock tacos and ice cream. She went above and beyond bringing us some Moxie to try along with smoked scallops and freshly baked local bread that we enjoyed on a beautiful day harborside. I’m not a fan of oysters but she even got me to try some that she personally shucked. She accommodated those drinking alcohol and those who weren’t - and a gluten free participant. I took copious notes with her many tips. I’m trying one of her recommendations for dinner. We had a small but fun group (9). Woman-owned small business. Great set up- they pay the restaurants for the food and gratuity. You just pay for the tour and tip your tour guide if you enjoyed the tour (you will). Great way to try a lot of food and restaurants you wouldn’t have time to try on your own and get some ideas of places to try. They do tours in other cities in Maine and private tours. Year round in Portland.

THIS is a must do when visiting Portland for the first time! AJ was a phenomenal tour guide, giving us all the funniest and quirkiest tidbits about Portland and its rich history and insider info on the food scene and culture. We booked this tour for our bachelorette weekend and it was the BEST decision. My only regret is that we couldn't keep AJ with us for the entire duration of our trip 🤣

A great tour as well as tour guide! Timothy was truly exceptional. As a true Mainer, his love for this state is obvious. We not only learned about local history but secret places to visit as well! I’m looking forward to visiting Peaks Island and Battery Steele.Although on the higher price point regarding food tours we were provided full size portions of a lobster roll, cup of chowder, fish taco, several beers and chocolate truffles. Everything we tried was so flavorful! Can’t wait to return to Portland to not only visit these establishments for a re-do but this organization for another tour

Full recommendation for "Old Port Culinary Walking Tour" in Portland, ME! Start your stay in the city with this tour, because you will get many new ideas what to visit/to do next by the great local guides. While the 2.5h walk through the streets, docks and pubs of Portland (less than 1.5mi) you learn a lot about the history of the city and the cultural activities going on currently. And in the meantime you are served excellent fish tacos, clam chowders, lobster rolls, chocolates & beers.

First time in Portland for us Coloradoans and the Walking History Tour was outstanding! I wish we'd scheduled it our first day, but anytime would enlighten folks about the city and waterfront. Guide Ross could not have been better. An expert on Portland history, he was friendly, organized, humorous, and offered lots of information including restaurant tips and architecture. The Walking Tour was a highlight of our visit. We'd definitely book another.

We did the walking history tour. It is for about 2.5 hours. Our guide James was amazing, having lived in Portland for 30 years, he had so much to share. Recommend this tour to people looking to get a basic history and amazing tidbits about Portland.

Would give more than 5 stars if we could…Timothy was the BEST! In Portland for a family vacation, and we’re all food lovers. Everything was delicious! He was a wealth of knowledge in history of the city, recommendations, and pointing out his favorite spots. Very articulate and made us laugh. We’d come back again in a heartbeat!

We did the Walk Through Time in Portland with Ross. He is an EXCELLENT and knowledgable tour guide. Thoroughly entertaining and will pepper in tons of stories (and even songs) about the spaces in which he is showing you. He also gave many recommendations about things to do and places to eat along the way. I highly recommend doing this tour near the beginning of your trip, so you can get the most of of his suggestions.

First of all Andrew was AWESOME. So friendly and informative of the city he loves. We did the seafood tour with him and the food was amazing. Walking around getting the history of the place before we started our vacation was a great idea. The seafood chowder was the best part.
