Ri Ra comes from “Ri Ra Agus Ruaile Buaile” A phrase translating roughly as divilment, good fun or any sociable activity that improves with fine food, a nice pint of guinness or dram of uisce beatha (whiskey).

For more than 25 years, Rí Rá has been Portland’s truly authentic Irish Pub. Located in the Old Port, Rí Rá is spread over two floors, the upper floor offering stunning 180° views of Portland Harbor. As you enter Rí Rá you can imagine yourself walking through a door that leads you back in time to the peaceful and cozy atmosphere of a traditional pub 100 hundred years ago in Ireland. When you visit Rí Rá you will feel as if you are going back in time, such is the ambiance of the pub. All of the pub interiors were salvaged and restored in Ireland and shipped to Portland. The pub is on two levels, with three distinct areas. We love local and are proud to serve many local favorites from our craft beer selections that showcase just the right mix of imported Irish beers and regional favorites. Our food menu is comprised of elevated pub grub with a local twist. We offer vegan, vegetarian and gluten free dishes! We have a dedicated gluten free fryer for all fried dishes. Come in anytime for a pint, some food and some Irish hospitality. You are always welcome!

Great location! Our waiter was attentive. The spinach artichoke dip is delicious! The burger was good but a bit over-cooked. Their drinks are decent. It’s a little pricey but I enjoy the atmosphere so much and being right down town!

What I loved about this place was their gluten-free options. They have lots of amazing choices for celiacs, which I am. The food was delicious and they had some items that aren’t typical on Irish menus, so I enjoyed trying new things. The atmosphere is very much that of an Irish pub, so I enjoyed getting that experience as well.

Thank you, Joel, for such an awesome dining experience. They knew Gluten Free and did a wonderful job. Had the Fish and Chips with Fries. Fries were on the soggy side but the fish was REALLY good. Before the fish we had the chicken bites and those were very good too. Joel made me some Dark and stormys they were tasty as well. We sat by an upstairs window looking over the harbor and enjoyed the sights while eating. Service and food were exceptional. Would go again when in the area. Thanks to all!
