Do you go nuts for donuts? Then you’re going to want to listen up, because Maine’s newest donut tour has officially come to Portland!
The Maine Donut Tour is a 75-minute 1-mile walk of pure donut heaven. Promising to be super fun and absolutely delicious, $40 dollars ($25 for children under 12) will get you around Portland’s Historic Old Port to three of Portland’s finest donut shops where you’ll get to skip the line!
Stop #1 – The Holy Donut
If you know anything about Maine and/or donuts, then The Holy Donut needs no introduction. A family-owned business, The Holy Donut is dedicated to making delicious craft donuts with all-natural ingredients. You can choose from over 16 flavors at our any of their 3 locations (one in Scarborough + two in Portland) Menu highlights include the Holy Cannoli Triple Berry Glazed, the Maple Bacon, and the Toasted Coconut.
As the first stop on the tour, The Maine Donut Tour will walk you down to The Holy Donut’s newest location at 177 Commercial Street. Known to have a line out the door at all times, you’ll get to skip right to the front, grab your donut, and head to Portland’s storied Long Wharf to indulge.
Stop #2 – Eighty 8 Donuts
Meandering back along the iconic cobblestone streets of Portland, next you’ll make your way past the granite built Customs House and just up around the corner to Eighty 8 Donuts.
Initially a food truck, Eighty 8 Donuts opened their second location, first in Portland, at 225 Federal Street in July of 2021. Serving up hot and fresh gourmet bite-sized donuts, Eighty 8 Donuts’ menu highlights include their Bamm Bamm – Fruity Pebble topped donut and their Boston Cream – Chocolate glaze with Bavarian cream donut.
The Maine Donut Tour will have you appreciate these culinary delights right along the granite of City Hall.
Stop #3 – HiFi Donuts
Last but certainly not least, the final leg of the tour will head you to Monument Square to visit HiFi Donuts, where along the way, you’ll take in the rich history of Downtown, including Portland’s oldest congregation built in 1674.
Located at 30 City Center, HiFi Donuts offers old world style donuts locally sourced and made from scratch daily. Taking you on a journey of flavors, menu highlights include their HiFi Crullers, their Blueberry Frosted Crisp, The Chocolate Old Port, and of course, The Chewbacca, which plays into their adoration for Star Wars. The love doesn’t stop there, their interior is playfully dedicated to the classic film franchise.
