Vina Ann’s, founded by best friends Hannah Maltby and Liz Tavares, has recently leased the 77-square-foot, city-owned waterfront gazebo at 20 Commercial Street through a successful vendor proposal to the City of Portland. Hannah and Liz, inseparable since middle school, launched their business in 2021 after gaining experience baking desserts for restaurants like Dunstan Tap & Table and The Rooms.
Previously, this gazebo, equipped with electricity but lacking running water, housed an ice cream shop but has remained vacant for several years. Now, at this charming location, Vina Ann’s will offer a delightful selection of sandwiches, salads, and their renowned sweets. As fall approaches, the menu will expand to include soups. The new location is set to open soon and will operate until October.
