In 2014, Casco Bay Custom Charters was started for 2 simple reasons: First, we wanted to share our enjoyment of the water with others. Second, we wanted to preserve MONHEGAN, our wooden lobster boat, as a piece of Maine maritime history.
We started by offering a few simple sightseeing charters and full day trips. Since then, we’ve expanded our charter offerings to island excursions, brunch and lunch cruises, and 6-course dinners prepared and served aboard by a private chef. We continue to have a lot of fun with everything we do.
In 2018, we purchased and restored the historic passenger cruiser, MARIE L. Our efforts have resulted in the rebirth of a vessel who has been in service in Casco Bay for nearly 70 years! MARIE L helped expand our offerings and enabled us to offer charters for large group up to 16. Our charters aboard MARIE L are all-inclusive and include unlimited local Portland, ME beer, hard seltzer, imported white and red wine, rosé and bubbly!
While we are now a little bit bigger than when we started a handful of years ago, we are still a small business run by a few local families, and we still strive to set ourselves apart by offering exceptional experiences, whether it’s on a 2-hour sightseeing charter for 2, a wedding cruise for 16, or a half-day adventure around the bay for a family.
