In 1903, the Grand Trunk Railway Station was built and proudly graced the intersection of Fore and India Streets, a bustling hub for train arrivals and departures along the waterfront. However, with the halt of rail service to Montreal, the station’s vitality waned, leading to its eventual abandonment. By 1948, safety concerns prompted the removal of its majestic clock tower, and in 1966, the entire structure met its demise.
Despite the loss of the station, the adjacent Grand Trunk office building stood as a testament to history. Threatened with demolition, it underwent extensive restoration, preserving its architectural legacy. Today, this building remains a captivating reminder of the area’s rich railroad heritage.
