Hike the Forest City TrailStarts at 8 a.m. and ends approximately at 2 p.m.See some of Portland’s most beautiful trails on this 10-mile cross-town hike! Guided by Portland Trails co-founder Tom Jewell, City of Portland Parks Director, Ethan Hipple, and Portland Trails Executive Director, Kara Wooldrik, this walk winds through Stroudwater Trail, Fore River Sanctuary, Evergreen Cemetery, Oat Nuts Park, past schools, and through neighborhoods, and culminates at the stunning Presumpscot Falls. You’ll discover many of the trail network’s hidden gems and learn about the story behind your favorite trails. Grab a pair of comfortable walking shoes, pack your lunch, and get ready to see Portland as you’ve never seen it before!This walk will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 4th. If you sign up, please plan on joining us for the entire hike. Portland Trails will provide transportation to the start for those who need it. No dogs, strollers, or bikes. Experience the trails by bikeStarts at 9 a.m. and ends approximately at 10:30 a.m.Biking is an incredible way to enjoy your favorite trails, plus you get to cover more ground than when you’re on foot. If you want to try riding your bike on local trails, join our National Trails Day bike ride! Guided by biking enthusiast and former Portland Trails staff member Nancy Grant, this six-mile ride will take you through the Evergreen Cemetery trails, Baxter Woods, and possibly the Fore River Sanctuary. Grab your helmet, fill your tires, and get ready for a new way to experience the trails!This ride will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 4th. We’ll begin with a short safety check before beginning the ride. (Please check out this ABC bike check before you head out!)$20 per participant. Maximum of 10 participants.Safety notes:
- Helmets are required!
- Please use a mountain or hybrid bike, not a road or racing bike. Wider tires will make your ride easier!
- We ask that participants be comfortable and familiar with biking.
Reflect next to a waterfallStarts at 10 a.m. and ends at 10:45 a.m.What better way to start your Saturday morning than reflecting in nature while listening to the tranquil sounds of a waterfall? A local meditation guide will lead participants through 45 minutes of connection and reflection near Jewell Falls in the Fore River Sanctuary. You’re welcome to use this time however you like – you can meditate, journal, draw…whatever helps you connect with nature. Bring a blanket or folding chair, and wear what you need to be comfortable.This reflection will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4th.This event is free, but please register in advance. Maximum of 10 participants.
