Ours was a perfect seat for our party of 6, right by the window it was excellent.The best seat in the house.I only didn’t give 5 stars all around because of the crazy loud volume in the room, a loud atmosphere that made it uncomfortable for conversation, but it was still very nice early in the evening.

Beautiful ambiance. Excellent customer service although the ribeye steak was a bit overly cooked as it was ordered medium rare. The ribeye was presented well although it was not a good solid traditional ribeye it was more about presentation rather than a delicious piece of steak. The beef tar tartare was delicious. The horseradish mashed potatoes were not our favorite.We would return for cocktails and try different entrees next time.

Let me start with the fact that we were an hour late to our reservation on a Saturday night. Not only did the host graciously provide us with a table, the manager, Johanna, clearly read the reservation notes and brought over a tequila shot for my partner’s 40th birthday celebration on arrival. Claire was our server and she crushed it. Attentive service, excellent recommendations and always with a smile. The food was phenomenal, we had the calamari, steak & cheese salad, the ribeye entree and the sirloin entree. Everything was incredible. We look forward to going back.

First, I would say the name is a bit deceiving calling it a bar and grill, we expected a burger bar and did not expect the prices. Not did a lot of people we saw sit then scoot. The prices are steep but the food and service was amazing. We got drinks and a couple appetizers, bang bang shrimp and calamari. They were amazing and surprisingly huge portions. The bartenders were very knowledgeable on food and drinks. I'd go back here for sure.

We love this place. The wait staff is personable and efficient. The open kitchen is a fun bonus. And, the food has always been delicious. The huge ribeye dinner is my favorite, though enough for 3 meals (prepare for leftovers). I would order the horseradish mashed potatoes for my last meal. And my partner scoffed down his scallops. So happy they reopened after the fire. It's pricy--but as a treat, we think it's always worth it.

My husband and I came in 5 minutes before the kitchen closed so we didn’t any to be a pain and didn’t order food. We had a couple drinks and the staff was awesome. They kept checking on us and didn’t make us feel weird for coming in late. I wanted to eat here for dinner the night before but I couldn’t find it. I’ll be back to try the food. Nice place inside too

My brother and I enjoyed a truly fantastic meal at the Grill Room & Bar last evening. We were lucky enough to be able to sit at the bar overlooking the kitchen, which added to the experience by being able to interact with the Sous Chef and line cooks. Our meal started out with cocktails (an outstanding dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives for me), and then 2 appetizers consisting of grilled scallops for my brother and the wood oven roasted bone marrow with grilled sourdough, oxtail marmalade & pickled shallot salad for me - it was heavenly. Next up came a house-made caesar salad and two more of the same cocktails. For our main dishes, we both selected the house cured duck breast with celery root parsnip puree, local mushrooms, crispy parsnips, and a bordelaise. While everything on the menu made our mouths water, we went with the duck at the recommendation of the Sous Chef and our waiter, Javier. Speaking of Javier, he was absolutely wonderful - he had a great personality (as did our Sous Chef), was attentive, but not intrusive, knowledgable, and made us feel right at home. My brother and I wrapped up the meal with some delicious blood orange sorbet, and called it a night after an amazing two hour experience. The entire staff at The Grill Room & Bar was genuine, warm, and friendly. We'll definitely keep this on our to-go list for future nights when we get to hang out.

Had a really lovely experience here for my birthday! Our server was sweet and accommodating....the food was so fresh, prepped with love, and came out in a timely way.. we ordered quite a bit off the menu but my favorite part was the steak tartare appetizer. Wow. Just wow. We were a bit nervous after some of the reviews. However, our expectations were exceeded.Service, Food, and Atmosphere were 10/10! We opted for the Chef Counter and really enjoyed watching them work while we enjoyed cocktails/food. We enjoyed the special of the lamb belly, the wedge salad, and the French onion soup to start. Rounding out our meals with filet and duck. Sharing the spicy broccoli rabe and lobster mashed. Everything was cooked perfectly. If I had the smallest complaint it would be that the duck skin was not crisp at all. And that could just be a personal preference.Our server was fantastic, offering great suggestions and ensured our food was coursed food perfectly.A bit on the pricey side, but worth a visit at least once.

Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection with care and thought behind each dish. The service was phenomenal and our waitress was very kind, informative and attentive. I especially liked the lobster risotto.You're not gonna get out of here cheap, be prepared for that. And be sure you know what you're ordering; had we realized the giant steak we were ordering was almost $170, we would have opted for something less extravagant. It wouldn't have sucked to be warned about that.All that being said, the quality and the service were all outstanding, and we took almost as much food home as we ate there. So I'm not complaining.

We brought our toddler with us who was treated great by the wait staff and loved the food. The noise level was also great and provided cover for intimate conversations and our toddler being their usual self. Also, do yourself a favor and get the calamari appetizer.

I heard this place was one of the best in Portland, and it definitely lived up to the hype! Me and my boyfriend came here for my birthday and our server (Alanna) was courteous, funny, and had all the answers to our questions as well as great suggestions on what to order! The restaurant is well organized and from some tables you can see almost the whole kitchen, which I thought was super cool. I got the filet mignon with roasted mushrooms and potato aligot- it was divine. My boyfriend got the salmon and broccolini which he also enjoyed greatly. We finished with the blood orange sorbet which was perfect to round out the night. All in all, we loved our experience and if we lived in the area I'm sure we'd return for future special occasions!

You won't find many places like this in Maine. I've been several times and each time has been a great experience. The steaks are always grilled the way you want over a hardwood grill - so tasty.The mussels were delicious as well. Having tried mussels in many places down in the Old Port, this place competes with the best. They use Bangs Island which are the only mussels I'd eat - PEI mussels are sandy and not as fresh.

Our server, Ryan, was fantastic even though it was a little rainy outside where we were eating, and shared a ton about his favorite places to go in Bar Harbor (where we were going next) and where to stop along the way. Wife and I went here before we left Maine because we were tired of seafood. Too much surf, not enough turf. The food was fantastic, I enjoyed the French Onion soup and the duck breast was a tasty change of scenery for my palate. The service at the bar was great, the bartender was pleasant and informed us it wasn't a very busy night compared to the prepandemic, however, the service at the table was severely lacking. She rarely checked on us and we had to go chase down our boxes and check, and she deflected and said it was a busy night. Our food actually came out before a bachelor's party that was seated before us. If it wasn't for the Hostess, I would have given this place a three star rating. She was amazing and made things happen.

Tonight's service was outstanding from the time we set forth in the door until the time we left. Our table wasn't quite ready so we sat at the spacious bar for less than 10 minutes. When we arrived at our table, Our waitress offered complimentary champagne for our anniversary celebration. The food was cooked to perfection. I especially loved the grilled carrots.
