As the sun sets, Portland transforms into a hub of nightlife and lively fun. If you’re looking to stay out past curfew, you’re in the right place. Fore & Wharf Street are known to be some of the most active, so we’ve compiled a list of some of the best spots that stay rockin’ until 1am. Step inside from the cobblestones to experience some Southern hospitality at Bonfire Country Bar. In addition to friendly bartenders, you can find good drinks, dancing, country music, bar bites, and an outdoor patio in the warmer months. Whether you’re just gathering with friends, or celebrating a special occasion, Bonfire promises a memorable night filled with good drinks, great company and a touch of Southern charm.
Continuing down Wharf Street, you’ll find Mash TUN. Here you can expect to find over 30 beers on tap, as well as bites such as tacos, burgers, and more. Located in the heart of the Old Port, this beer hall is a late night staple.
If you’re looking to dance, Oasis is the place. Located at 42 Wharf St, this multilevel dance club and bar keeps the party going all night. You can expect to find tropical vibes, cocktails, an outdoor patio, and a live DJ every Friday and Saturday night.
If you want a break from the dancefloor, stop by Amigos. This two story restaurant and bar features an outdoor area, pool tables, darts, and has a kitchen so you can grab a bite to eat. They’re open until 1am, but the kitchen closes at 12am, so get those orders in before the clock strikes 12.
Located on Fore Street, Fore Play is all fun and games. This sports bar has games such as cornhole, connect four, bubble hockey, as well as TV’s to stream the game. While you watch the game, grab some pub grub, beers on tap, and $2 Jell-O shots. Upstairs, you’ll find another bar, DJ, and a dance floor to keep the party going.
This neighborhood pub on Wharf Street is a one-of-a-kind spot. Rathskeller serves up a unique selection of cocktails, both craft and domestic brews, wine, as well as food. If you’re looking to experience nightlife in the Old Port for yourself, Rathskeller is a must visit.
Gritty McDuff’s

Finally, you can’t forget about Maine’s original brewpub, Gritty McDuff’s. Gritty’s brews their beer on site, and their space features two floors with access to both Fore and Wharf Street. In addition to brews, they have delicious pub fare to go with it. The kitchen may close at 10, but they’re open till 1am. They also have trivia nights and live music throughout the week!
