While Portland’s late night scene isn’t as hopping as it used to be, it’s certainly not dead. From pubs to pizzerias, cocktail bars to canteens, there are late night eats and drinks to be found all over Portland. What follows is your guide after 10:00 PM—get after it, night owls.

Late Night Food
Bramhall (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
A brick-and-stone lined chamber lit primarily by candles, Bramhall is downtown Portland’s intimate and moody modern speakeasy. Their late night nosh consists of bar snacks like chips and salsa, mixed pub nuts and smoked cod dip. On the beverage list you’ll find draft beers, quirky cocktails, mocktails, happy meals, and house shots.
Paper Tiger (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
Inspired by traditional fast food, oyster bars, and late night Chinese restaurants, it’s only fitting Paper Tiger serves late night specials. From 11:30 PM-12:30 AM every night you can score yourself a Red Stripe + a shot + a chicken sando for $16! Additional specials include $2 off draft beers + wines and Extra Fancy Daiquiris for $10.
$3 Dewey’s (Open until 1:00 AM Monday-Saturday, late night menu from 10:00-11:00 PM)
Portland’s original alehouse, known for their classic pub vibes and sizable list of brews, offers a daily late night menu for those of you up past 10:00 PM. Whether you’re in the mood for a Deweys dog with beer cheese, a basket of sweet potato tots, or even vegan nachos, they’ve got you covered.
Lucky Cheetah (Exact hours TBD)
Portland’s newest Dim Sum spot, Lucky Cheetah, is now open late night on the weekends. This space, previously occupied by Old Port Tavern has been remodeled and features a lounge area, tables and booths, and a unique nightlife vibe. In addition to drinks, snack on their dim sum offerings.
Samuel’s Bar & Grill (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
A small, unfussy neighborhood spot offering American grub, cocktails, beer bottles + cans and over 10 beers on tap. The whole menu is available until 1:00 AM daily.
Lenora (Open daily until 1 AM. Late Night menu starts at 10 PM)
In search for late night Mexican-inspired food and drinks? Lenora in the Old Port is open until 1 AM with their Late Night menu kicking in at 10 PM. Satisfy that late night food craving with Lenora’s Tacos al Carbon, Chips + Salsa, Cantina Wings, or Victory Club Nachos.
Taco Escobarr (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
If you’re looking to spice things up, Taco Escobarr is the place to go for house made guac and chips, Mexican street corn, tortas, taquitos, quesadillas, fajitas, tacos and more. Their bar program offers a variety of craft beer, Mexican beer, specialty cocktails and fresh margaritas with house infused tequilas.
Boda (Open until 11:30 PM Friday-Sunday)
Boda serves “very Thai” food, meaning authentic Thai as opposed to Americanized Thai food, focusing on street vendor specialities like skewers and home-style cooking. Boda has a full bar, beer and wine and an excellent late night menu.
Nosh (Open until 1:00 AM everyday, kitchen closes at midnight)
Nosh is an upscale pub serving creative, gargantuan burgers, sandos, lobster rangoons, parmesan truffle fries and other mouthwatering snacks until late every night.
Rosie’s Restaurant and Pub (Open until 1:00 AM everyday for drinks. Kitchen open until 10:00 PM Sunday-Thursday, 11:00 PM Friday-Saturday)
Rosie’s, a staple of the old port, serves a variety of snack-y appetizers, wings, burgers, and more. Serving 15 beers on tap, a variety of bottles and cans, and daily specials like $5 Ice Pik vodka drinks, and $5 Fireball or Dr. McGillicudy shots.
Tomaso’s Canteen (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
Tomaso’s is a down-to-earth neighborhood bar with daily specials, weekend brunch, and late night grub. The pub grub is high quality; think flavor-packed sandos, dump truck fries, wings, mac and cheese. They have a full bar, a “canned beer selection of your dreams” and jello shots!
Lazzari (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
Lazzari—home to insalatas, small plates, wood-fired Neapolitan Style pizzas, Tiramisu, and other feel good Italian dishes—serves their full menu until close every night. They have a full bar, tons of local beers, a variety of wines and a pretty bumping late night scene.
CBG (Open until 1:00 AM everyday, kitchen closes at midnight)
If you’re looking for “fine diving”, cold beer, excellent cocktails, traditional pub food, all day + night Industry brunch, look no further than CBG, a well-known industry haunt. If you find your belly rumbling late night, stop into CBG, park yourself under the giant mural of “The Dude,” and get yourself some Ham & Cheese Fritters. Your belly will thank you.
Black Cow (Open until 1:00 AM Wednesday-Saturday, kitchen closes at midnight)
Craving a late night burger with some killer sour cream and onion fries? Black Cow is the place to be. In addition to burgers and sammies, they’ve a full list of cocktails and house crafted sodas (chocolate egg cream, anyone?), plus five flavors of shakes and floats.
Eventide (Open until 11:00 PM everyday)
When the desire for oysters hits, there’s nothing you can do but find some, fast. Luckily, Eventide is open late all week long, so grab a seat and enjoy your pick of oysters on the half shell (from Maine or from away), ceviche, or a brown butter lobster roll, and wash it down with a bottled Twisted Tea, made with Hangar One Mandarin Orange Blossom, black tea-infused vodka, and lemonade.
Cheese Louise (Open until 2:00 AM Friday-Saturday)
Grilled cheese, please! Located at the corner of Fore and Market Streets, Cheese Louise’s flagship location boasts a rotating menu of cheesy goodness. Their simplified Late Night Menu features their Vermonter, Baconator and Godmother grilled cheese as well as chips & dip. Check out their full scale bar featuring drink specials and a large variety of craft can brews! Now open until 2 AM!
Novare Res (Open until 11:00 PM Sunday- Thursday, open until 1:00AM Friday-Saturday. Kitchen open until 11 PM 7 days a week)
This hidden beer garden, whose name is Latin for “to start a revolution,” was inspired by fermented beverages from around the world. With over 33 options on tap and more than 170 bottles available, you’re virtually guaranteed to sip on something great. Plus, they have spacious deck seating and a food menu with snacks, meat & cheese, and select entrees featuring sandwiches and burgers available until 11 PM.
Late Night Drinks
Dock Fore (Open until 10 PM Monday – Wednesday; 11 PM on Thursday and Sunday; 12:30 AM Friday and Saturday)
This iconic local sports bar and pub is known for their low key atmosphere and gourmet jello shots. A popular destination for bachelorette parties, Dock Fore attracts a diverse crowd of locals and visitors alike. Stop on in late night for a relaxing pint or a party starting jello shot. Happy Hour runs daily from 7 PM -CL and includes $3.95 20 oz drafts. On Wednesday enjoy $4.95 House Margaritas until close.
Gritty McDuff’s Brew Pub (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
Gritty’s, established in 1988, was Maine’s Original Brewpub and the first to open in Maine post-prohibition era. They offer house-made craft beers on tap and cask, as well as guest taps and a full bar. Stop in, grab a brew, sit at one of their long wooden tables, and strike up a conversation with your neighbor.
Rigby Yard (Open until 4 PM Monday – Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday until 10 PM, Friday and Saturday until 11:30 PM)
Rigby Yard is a beer, wine, and speciality cocktail bar in the heart of the Old Port on Wharf Street. Rigby Yards namesake comes from the historic Rigby Yard train depot which served as a link to all of the North East for many decades. Continuing that tradition, Wharf Street’s Rigby Yard brings visitors and locals together in a unique, comfortable space united by warm hospitality and menus rooted in the seasonal bounty of New England. For a great deal on drinks late night, Rigby Yard has Late Night Happy Hour on the weekends 10 PM -11:30 PM featuring $5 Maine craft beers, $5 Prosecco, and wine discounts.
Blyth & Burrows (Open until 11 PM Sunday – Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 12 AM)
A vintage-inspired cocktail bar, Blyth & Burrows prides themselves on the knowledge and craft of the cocktail experience. With a team made up of veterans of the hospitality industry who go above and beyond, you can enjoy hand-crafted cocktails 7 days a week late until the evening. Blyth & Burrows has been featured in Forbes, Huffpost, Thrillist, Punch and more.
Amigos Mexican Restaurant (Bar open until 1:00 AM everyday)
For over 50 years Amigos has been a watering hole for locals and tourists alike. Come for the live music on their enclosed deck, darts, and pool, and stay for affordable drafts, cans and pitchers of beer, jello shots, and tasty house margs.
Munjoy Hill Tavern (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
A favorite neighborhood dive bar in Munjoy Hill serving up affordable cocktails, jello shots, and local craft brews.
Ri Ra (Open until 1:00 AM everyday. Kitchen closes at 10 PM daily)
Step back in time and transport yourself to Ireland at Ri Ra, Portland’s quintessential Irish pub. With a long list of Irish-themed cocktails, house wines, and both local and international beers on tap, you can’t go wrong at this late night destination.
Rathskeller on Wharf (Open Tuesday – Sunday until 1 AM. Kitchen closes at 10 PM)
A neighborhood pub in the heart of the Old Port, Rathskeller is one-of-a-kind spot on Wharf Street that will have you coming back for more. Serving up a diverse selection of unique cocktails, ales, liquor, craft and domestic beer, and wine, Rathskeller is a go-to spot for those looking to experience the night-life of Portland.
Jefe Juans (Open until 12:00 AM Sunday-Thursday, open until 1:00 AM Friday-Saturday)
When tequila is calling your name, head to Jefe Juans. The sister restaurant to Mash Tun, this locale serves up a variety of Mexican fare alongside delicious margs, cervezas, and shots.
Jewel Box (Open until 1:00AM everyday, closes earlier when slow)
Nestled in Portland’s Arts District, the Jewel Box is a moody cocktail bar offering bespoke beverages, a rotating shot du jour, and lively Wednesday night karaoke.
The Portland Hunt + Alpine Club (Open until 11:00 PM Tuesday-Thursday + Sunday, open until 1:00 AM Friday-Saturday)
Founded in 2013, Hunt + Alpine is a two-time James Beard semi-finalist for Outstanding Bar Program (2015, 2017) and was named one of the nineteen “Best Cocktail Bars in America” by Thrillist. The current menu features upscale cocktails (including a rotating daily punch), wines by the glass or bottle, and a whole section dedicated to Negronis.
Room for Improvement (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
A newcomer to Portland’s late night scene, this “halfway decent bar” from local bartender Arvid Brown and his business partner Nick Coffin is a modern take on the classic dive bar. Here, you’ll find daiquiris, savory “salad bar” cocktails, the regular hits, and even a flaming scorpion bowl.
Downtown Lounge (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
DTL is a locals bar on Congress Street with a comfortable atmosphere, cheap drinks, funky decor, and a jukebox. What more could you want from a late night spot?
Lincolns (Open until 12:30 AM Sunday-Thursday, open until 1:00 AM Friday-Saturday)
A low-key, speakeasy-like, cash-only underground bar offering $5 beer, $5 wine, and $5 spirits. “Lincoln’s”—get it?
Bonfire Country Bar (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
Bonfire is open every night until 1:00 AM serving specialty cocktails, frozen cocktails, a lengthy list of drafts served by the pour or pitcher, and oddities like a 142oz cocktail served in a 3ft tall martini glass.
Commercial Street Pub (Open until 1:00 AM everyday)
The Commercial Street Pub, established in 1990, is a fun neighborhood spot, open 365 days. This is your local haunt for strong bloody Mary’s and draft beers.
LFK (Open until 1:00 AM Friday-Saturday)
LFK is a dimly lit drinker’s bar full of funky decor—inside, you’ll find a boat load of books, a pair of deer antlers, old typewriters, and lush greenery. They’ve got a great draft list, but you should definitely order the Juice Box: a shot of Fernet + a Miller High Life Pony.
