Spring is here and it’s bringing with it some great live music. It seems like each day we’re hearing about more and more bands and artists being announced for this summer (ahem: see above), and we’re looking at a great year for live music and performances in Portland, Maine!
First things first, ahead this week are a popular guitar aficionado, local master musicians of tomorrow, a showcase of underground EDM, and a local band paying tribute to a recent milestone from a legendary rock album.
Don’t forget that you can always check out our Live Music Tonight calendar for the full list of live music in Portland!

LIVE & LOCAL
Speaking of master musicians, bring the whole family for an afternoon with the maestros of tomorrow, when the Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra performs at the Merrill Auditorium this Sunday, March 26th.
This matinee performance is part of the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Discovery Concerts for Families series, a run of shows designed for families with children, but enjoyable for music fans of all ages. This special Discovery show will feature Portland’s youth orchestra, showcasing the hard work these young locals have dedicated themselves to.

Break up the workweek with some hardcore, underground electronic dance music at Flask Lounge. Every 4th Wednesday (including this Wednesday, March 22nd), head down to Flask for Vibe Check, an exploration of the best underground EDM from yesterday and today.
Hosted by DJs Cybergiga and KTTNMTTNS, you can expect to hear techno, trance, house and so much more through the night. Music kicks off at 9PM. See the link below for more.
Brush off that old VHS of The Wizard of Oz and your old vinyl, because Pink Floyd’s legendary “The Dark Side of the Moon” album just turned 50 years old this month. Or – even better – get down to Portland House of Music & Events this Friday and Saturday, March 24th and 25th, for Tom Faunce Presents: Echoes – A Tribute to Pink Floyd.
The local tribute band will be playing two nights in celebration of Pink Floyd’s iconic album. Known for having amazing light shows and musical talent, this is one band that does a great job playing tribute.
