LIVE & LOCAL
At the age of 20, Mavy Ho-Le emerges as a rising powerhouse in the instrumental realm. Her distinct performance style, coupled with choreographed routines, sets her apart from the conventional classical string scene. Hailing from Gorham, Maine, Mavy initially delved into classical music through the Osher School of Music Youth Ensembles. However, she soon diverged into the non-classical domain, exploring the use of distortion pedals and acquiring an electric violin at the age of 11. Additionally, she holds the position of concertmaster in the Bates College Orchestra.
Friday, March 8th at One Longfellow Square
MIDWEEK MUSIC
Originating from Los Angeles, Circles Around the Sun is a modern instrumental rock ensemble, conceived with the aim of producing music for the “Fare Thee Well” reunion concerts featuring surviving members of the Grateful Dead. Following the tour, the band released a self-titled album derived from the Fare Thee Well performances, embarking on their own journey to promote the record. Circles Around the Sun encapsulates themes of both sorrow and optimism. As one door closes, another opens; new paths unveil themselves in enigmatic ways. Yet, there are moments when authenticity resonates from the very first note—a perfect harmony.
