Wilson County Barbecue celebrates pit-smoked, whole hog barbecue done the old-fashioned way in a comfortable gathering place replete with Southern hospitality and unfussy charm.

Headed by native North Carolinian Spencer Brantley, our barbecue is cooked in the traditional Eastern North Carolina, pit-smoked whole hog style, using recipes and techniques handed down through generations of the Brantley family of Wilson County, North Carolina. It’s a sub-regional tradition anchored around the wood-fired, pit-smoked whole pig, and in the convivial experience of sharing slow-crafted food and drink with friends and neighbors.

Wilson County Barbecue is a beacon for the best authentic Eastern North Carolina Barbecue, and for good times day and night.

We offer a set all day menu with rotating sides and specials 7-days a week. On Saturday’s and Sunday’s we offer a brunch menu from 9:00am-3:00pm. Our regular menu starts at 11:00am on weekends.

We are a fully scratch kitchen, meaning that our food is served fresh and with fresh ingredients. We have 25 mostly local beers on draft and operate a counter service style restaurant. Orders are placed upon arrival at the Order Now counter and a text message is sent to you when your order is ready to be picked up at the Pick Up window. We can’t wait to “meat” you!

Ive been twice this summer. Nice outdoor seating area with occasional live music. The food has generally been very good but it is inconsistent. The first time the ribs were juicy and tender but the second time (tonight) they were stale and dry. I dont think there will be a third time.

Atmosphere nice, live music nice, decor lovely, really wide selection of beers of tap. My only quips are the turnaround and price was not being worth what I got. $28 for a pulled pork burger, bbq fries, and a 10oz beer on tap. i’d say if the bun was larger / better quality or like, if there was more pork included…? then maybe.the meat itself was kinda middle of the road for me. very sweet and mild, with the side sauces having the zest and the spice. i suppose this is to accommodate guest’s tests, but it wasn’t anything to write home about on its own.the line was long at all times - not because it was busy necessarily - but because the workers were very conversational and chatty. which i mean, isn’t a terrible thing to be. but it really was a 10 minute wait for everyone once they decided to head up and there’d be like, 3 ppl in front of them.i didn’t care for the ‘we will text u when ur order is ready’ operation. it had issues for a few members of our party. also came out pretty slow, but the staff was mostly busy with to go orders.but it was def gorgeous inside, and the music was lovely! i don’t think i’d go out of my way to come back due to he price unless it was a big group of people. great for selection of local beers tho, def worth mentioning!

During a trip to Maine for one of my close, friends bachelor party, we stopped by Wilson country barbecue for lunch. My friend and I are Fried Chicken Sandwich connoisseur so we had very high expectations. Wilson country barbecue did not just answer the call but exceeded it. I was surprised of how well season their chicken was. Even the host was tremendously accommodating. I got their mac n cheese as a side and order some buttermilk biscuits to go. During their happy hour all snacks are half price. This venue was clean and welcoming.

We lived in Memphis for six years, but this is pretty darn good BBQ! Good portions, friendly people and the food is great! My wife’s pimento cheese on a biscuit was by far the best she’s had.

I moved to New England from N.C. about a year ago. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this place. The food and service was amazing. They represent Wilson well…it’s like eating at a modern Parker’s.
