It’s here! It’s here! Outdoor dining season is finally here! This is what we have been patiently waiting for all winter long. This spring and summer’s outdoor dining options will include an array of decks, patios, sidewalk seating, and more, ensuring that you and your group can thoroughly enjoy some al fresco dining while indulging in local cuisine.

Pick of the Patios
Alto Terrace Bar + Kitchen
Elevated dining in the Historic District of the Old Port, Alto Terrace Bar + Kitchen has 4th-floor terrace dining. Open for breakfast or for an upscale dinner.
Blyth & Burrows
Get ready to set sail at Blyth & Burrows! Now that ship (patio) has settled into the harbor and the crew has had a chance to swab the decks, the ship (patio) on Exchange Street is now open.
Butcher Burger
Butcher Burger is a unique restaurant which serves a variety of burgers, hand cut fries, and lobster rolls. Their Portland location offers patio dining along Union Street in the Old Port.
The Clam Bar
The Clam Bar, a mostly outdoor seafood joint and beer garden, has reopened for the season. Picnic tables and bar seating are situated within the sun and shade.
Coals
Portland’s pizza and wings destination, Coals in West Bayside has their patio seating set-up for the summer season.
Dock Fore
Sports bar + local pub in the heart of the Old Port, Dock Fore offers sidewalk seating, as well as deck seating along Fore Street. Both currently open.
Eighty 8 Donuts
Offering up bite-sized donuts hot and fresh out of Portland, Eighty 8 Donuts has their covered patio dining open for the season!
El Rayo
A friendly local taqueria serving fresh and delicious Mexican cuisine, El Rayo has its back deck open for the season.
Foundation Brewing Co.
Founded on the idea that at the base of human community, you will find good people and good beer, Foundation Brewing Co. is a full spectrum brewery featuring an outdoor patio. Their summer patio features a mix of sun/shade, with the tent (currently under construction and coming soon) providing coverage during rainy weather or protection from the sun.
Gritty McDuff’s
Get some outdoor brews and pub fare right on Wharf Street, the heart of the Old Port, at Maine’s Original Brewpub, Gritty McDuff’s. Their patio is currently open daily.
Gross Bakery
Gross Bakery is open 8 AM – 3 PM Thursday – Sunday with outdoor sidewalk seating on Middle Street. First-come, first served and is weather dependent.
Gross Confection Bar
Gross Confection Bar, a dessert-focused bar and restaurant, is offering outdoor sidewalk seating on Middle Street at a first-come, first served basis. Weather dependent! Gross Confection Bar is open Thursday – Sunday starting at 5 PM.
Independent Ice Co.
The bourbon whiskey bar and restaurant, Independent Ice, now has its patio dining on Wharf Street open for the season. Great for enjoy dinner and a drink while people watching in the historic Old Port.
Luke’s Lobster
With one of the best views of Casco Bay, Luke’s Lobster’s deck has reopened for the season. Walk-ins only and is dog-friendly!
Luna Rooftop Bar
An open-air bar located on the 6th floor of the Canopy Hotel, Luna’s rooftop bar overlooks the bustling Commercial Street. Reservations recommended!
Nosh Taco
Nosh Taco is a fast casual, California surfer inspired taco restaurant, with a clean and fun menu of various tacos, tortas, and other tasty specials. Outdoor dining at One Canal Plaza is open for the season.
Ocotillo
A West End neighborhood brunch-focused restaurant serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch, with an emphasis on Mexican brunch items, Ocotillo additionally features a covered and private back patio. Now open for the season and with wifi available!
Paper Tiger
Inspired by traditional fast food, oyster bars, and late-night Chinese restaurants, come enjoy Paper Tiger’s patio with a nice slushie and / or some delightful food!
Papi
To match its sister restaurant, Blyth & Burrows, Papi is also offering outdoor dining along Exchange Street. Seating now!
Po’Boys & Pickles
Bringing the Cajun heat of New Orleans to Portland, you can visit Po’ Boys & Pickles for patio dining 7 days a week.
Porthole Restaurant & Pub
A Portland landmark, The Porthole Restaurant & Pub has reopened their waterfront deck for the season. Standing bar area, as well as seated dining available. Dogs welcome and live music throughout the season!
Portland Lobster Co.
Reopening for the 2024 season April 26th! Portland Lobster Company, located on the waterfront on Portland’s bustling Commercial Street, has live music, fresh and delicious seafood, and one of the best views in town from their patio!
Rigby Yard
Sharing a space with sister bar/restaurant, Independent Ice, Rigby Yard, a beer, wine and cocktail bar serving fresh food and spirited cocktails, has their patio open for business. Rigby Yard operates as a coffee bar and cafe 9am – 4pm during the midweek.
Rising Tide Brewing Co.
Anchoring Portland’s vibrant East Bayside, Rising Tide will once again use a portion of its parking lot for outdoor enjoyment this summer. A portion of the patio is drenched in sun, while the other half features a tent for shade. Rising Tide Brewing is open and they welcome all well-behaved pups!
Saltwater Grille
South Portland’s premiere waterfront dining experience, Saltwater Grille, has opened their deck for the season!
Shay’s Grill Pub
Shays has patio dining in downtown Portland, looking out onto Monument Square.
Terlingua
A neighborhood Texas-style BBQ joint and market, Terlingua’s outdoor margarita garden + patio is open. Reservations and walk-ins available.
The Thirsty Pig
The Thirsty Pig is a cool outpost providing housemade sausages and casual eats, craft brews, and a patio oasis in the heart of bustling Old Port.
Three Dollar Deweys
The Back Alley Beer Garden at Three Dollar Deweys is officially OPEN! Located right in the Old Port
ViA VECCHiA
ViA VECCHiA, a small plates Italian restaurant + cocktail bar, offers patio dining Tuesday – Sunday starting at 4 PM.
Wilson County Barbecue
Wilson County Barbecue has their outdoor patio open! Headed by native North Carolinian Spencer Brantley, Wilson County Barbecue’s barbecue is cooked in the traditional Eastern North Carolina, pit-smoked whole hog style.
The Full Deck
Allagash Brewing Co.
An independent craft brewery brewing up some of the best Belgian-style beers, Allagash Brewing Co. has a spacious outdoor beer garden and covered patio so that you can taste a wide range of beers on tap, enjoy food from Bite Into Maine, and choose from plenty of beers and merch to bring home. In addition, Allagash has The Backyard, a wide-open (and nicely fenced in) space for the whole family. Features rocks to climb on, a canoe to play in, and room to roam for the kids.
Anoche
Washington Ave’s cider, spirits and modern pintxos bar, Anoche, has reopened its outdoor seating for the season. Consists of patio tables, lounge chairs and a walk up-service window.
Après
Après, a craft seltzer + cider house, has room for both indoor and outdoor seating. Frequent visits from local food trucks/ trailers and pop-up kitchens. Dog-friendly!
Austin Street Brewery – Fox Street
Austin Street Brewery’s patio has multiple places (covered and uncovered) to sit for both individuals and large parties. Frequently hosting local food trucks and trailers. First-come, first-served.
Bayside American Cafe
A local landmark and a long-time favorite of Portlanders, especially for brunch, Bayside American Cafe’s shaded back deck is open for walk-ins.
Bayside Bowl
One of Portland’s only rooftop bars, Bayside Bowl’s rooftop patio is the destination for frozen margaritas + tacos. 21+ after 7 PM on Friday and Saturday nights. Space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Open as long as the weather is nice!
Bar Futo
Bar Futo, Japanese-inspired dining in Portland’s Old Port, has a patio available along Fore Street sidewalk.
Belleflower Brewing Co.
Belleflower Brewing Co. has outdoor dining available! Seated alongside one of Portland’s prettiest murals, they also offer a rotating lineup of Portland’s finest food trucks. Dog-friendly!
Bird & Co.
Tacos. Cocktails. Beers. Bird & Co. in Woodford’s Corner has reopened their patio for the season.
Bite into Maine
Award-winning lobster rolls, Bite into Maine’s East Bayside restaurant also offers outdoor dining, available now.
Boone’s Fish House
From your choice of two decks, Boone’s offers waterfront dining right in the Old Port. A lively waterfront restaurant and bar, Boone’s serves up fresh and local seafood.
Bread & Friends
A bakery and all day restaurant in the Old Port, Bread and Friends is open for patio dining.
Browne Trading Co.
Selling imported and American caviar, fresh and smoked seafood to go, Browne Trading Co.’s Portland market has patio seating along Commercial Street sidewalk.
CBG
CBG, Congress Street’s down-to-earth bar & grill has sidewalk seating available.
Cera
Cera’s patio in Monument Square is now open! Stop by for elevated sandwiches & salads.
Cheese Louise
Bringing grilled cheese and smiles to Portland, Cheese Louise has built out a patio “ship” (AKA Lady Louise) along Market Street.
Coals
Portland’s pizza destination, Coals in West Bayside will have their patio seating set-up mid to end of April.
Cocktail Mary
A friendly, neighborhood cocktail bar in the east end, Cocktail Mary offers a modern twist on traditional favorites, local beer and cider, natural wines and soft beverages. Sidewalk dining open for season!
The Continental
The Continental, a laid-back neighborhood pub serving up European fare, now has a casual outdoor dining experience available.
Definitive Brewing Co.
The popular brewery, Definitive Brewing Co. has patio tables outdoors with shade and sun seating.
DiMillo’s On The Water
DiMillo’s deck seating is open (as long as the weather stays nice)! DiMillo’s is a popular marina mainstay in a huge former car ferry.
Duckfat Frites Shack
Duckfat Frites Shack’s takeout window down the alley of Washington Avenue will continue to operate outdoor seating alongside Oxbow Blending & Bottling and Anoche.
Eventide Oyster Co.
The famous Eventide Oyster Co. has a few sidewalk tables as well as a parklet patio open for the season. Available on a first come, first serve basis and leashed, well-behaved doggos are always welcome!
Flatbread
Serving wood-fired pizza on Portland’s waterfront since 2000, Flatbread’s waterfront patio is now open.
Freedom’s Edge Cider Co.
East Bayside’s new cidery, Freedom’s Edge Cider Co., has a couple of small tables available out front. In addition, the tasting room features garage doors that open up the space to the outdoors and allow for shaded seating.
Friends & Family
Friends & Family’s outdoor patio dining is open for the season starting May 1st! Overlooking Congress Square Park, you’re bound to catch live music, dancing, films, or more through out the season.
Gilbert’s Chowder House
A family restaurant located on the water, Gilbert’s is an icon seafood restaurant and chowder-house in the Old Port. During the warmer months, they open their back patio for service.
Great Lost Bear
The well-known beer bar and restaurant, The Great Lost Bear, has a private back patio open for the season.
Hardshore Distilling Co.
Hardshore Distlling Co. is ready for spring outdoor sipping! Patio along Washington Avenue is partially open.
HiFi Donuts
Donuts and outdoor dining? Count us in. HiFi Donuts is open for morning bites.
The Highroller Lobster Co.
Higroller Lobster Co. will be rocking their Exchange street patio once again this season in addition to their dual-level, skeleton-governed oasis outback! More seating, more fun, less wait. Patio on Exchange is currently open.
The Honey Paw
The tables are set and the umbrellas are up which means patio season is here at The Honey Paw. Well-behaved and leashed doggos are always welcome.
Hot Suppa
The southern kitchen & bar, Hot Suppa, has its shaded back patio open for their famous brunch.
Hunt + Alpine
Hunt + Alpine has built out a patio along Market Street for the season. Hunt & Alpine offers cocktails + Scandinavian comfort food.
Isa Bistro
Isa is a neighborhood bistro serving an eclectic and seasonal menu for both indoor and patio dining. Tucked away from the bustle of Portland, Isa’s private, fully enclosed, shaded patio is open (weather permitting). Reservations are available day-of online or call them directly. Patio is not dog friendly.
Izakaya Minato
Izakaya Minato, a popular Japanese restaurant on Washington Avenue is slowly rolling out some outdoor dining options with tables available along the sidewalk. Dog-friendly outdoor dining.
Jing Yan
A cozy and inviting Asian-inspired neighborhood bar and restaurant located on Munjoy Hill, Jing Yan is now open for outdoor dining during the summer months.
Lazzari
Lazzari on Congress Street has reopened their sidewalk seating for the season. Serving up wood-fired pizza and Italian every day. Leashed dogs welcome.
Lenora
Lenora, Portland’s all-day taco bar, is open for patio sidewalk seating daily! Added bonus: the patio is pup-friendly!
Lone Pine Brewing Co.
Lone Pine Brewing Co. has reopened their patio seating out front! In addition, construction is underway on their Anderson Street Beer Garden. After a long hiatus, they’ll soon be ready to welcome guests back to the top tiers of the Anderson Street property, overlooking East Bayside and with views of Back Bay. Will be open for Summer 2024, hoping for mid-May.
Mami
Mami offers Japanese-style street food in the heart of the Old Port. They offer sidewalk patio seating along historic Fore Street.
N-to-Tail
Offering Korean Hawaiian fusion, N-to-Tail in the Old Port has built out a large patio along Milk Street in the Old Port. Weather dependent.
Navis Cafe
Navis Cafe, an all-day café, serves up a very straightforward–and very tasty–menu with staple selections like breakfast, salads, soups, and sandwiches. They currently have outdoor seating (38 seats) with umbrellas. Pet-friendly as well!
Novare Res Bier Cafe
Novare Res Bier Cafe‘s taproom and beer garden oasis is hidden off the busy streets of the Old Port for some reprieve while you enjoy their world class selection of beer. Currently open for those that want to visit!
