Stevie Wonder, the remarkable talent, made his mark with his first hit record at the tender age of 13, and since then, he has amassed over 30 top ten hits and clinched 25 Grammy Awards. “Higher Ground,” a tribute to Wonder, showcases the talents of sixteen of Portland’s most accomplished musicians, who deliver renditions of twenty-one of his iconic songs. These musicians hail from distinguished Maine bands and collectives such as BOBA FUNK, DJ vs Rapper, Papa Tim and the Whisky Throttle Band, Wake Up Mama, Ragtime Rebellion, Jason Spooner Band, Bad Combo, Jumpin’ Willy’s, Biddo Honeys, and the XYZ Factor.

Originally born in Germany and later moved to the US as a young teenager, Antje Duvekot began developing her observational skills through the lens of being bicultural when she started playing guitar after the move. Inspired by the confessional folk styles of Dar Williams and Ani DiFranco, she found the courage to share her personal observations in her early songs. This commitment to vulnerability has remained a central part of her artistry. Antje has gained extensive experience touring and is known for her captivating live performances. She has been invited to perform at renowned festivals such as the Newport Folk Festival, Mountain Stage, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, and others.
