News Update
Anything from recent closings, openings, and headliners:
- Bom Dia Cafe has officially opened at 47 India Street. Owned and operated by Fletch Moffett, Bom Dia Cafe focuses on quick-service breakfast and lunch, offering “healthy and delicious, energy-fueling eats and drinks” which includes coffee, locally-made pastries, toasty bagels, and fully-loaded acai bowls.
- Freedom Edge’s Cider’s Portland location is set to open Thursday, April 4th at 31 Diamond Street. They’ll have a full line-up of Freedom’s Edge favorites, including Sweet Mullet and their Cider Cocktails, along with some very special barrel-aged ciders (on draft and in bottles) that will be exclusively made and sold at the Tasting Room. Freedom Edge’s Cider serves real hard cider from the heart of Maine, made with the right apples and only natural ingredients. Their original tasting room is right by the orchard in Albion, Maine and is open April – November.
- Botanically Curious, offering herbal remedies and holistic wellness experiences, is set to open this Friday, April 5th at 419 Congress Street in downtown Portland, Maine. A multi-functional hub, Botanically Curious blends retail offerings, educational workshops, and community engagement initiatives (tea and mocktail tastings, tea blending, and bath salt blending) all in one space. - Brickyard Hallow Brewing Co. has completed the expansion of their Portland location. The expanded space now features an additional 75-seat dining room, a second fully operational bar, and a wall of upgraded flatscreens.
- Twirl has made the hard decision to not renew their lease in Portland’s Public Market House for another year. The ice cream shop will remain closed as they explore various paths for what comes next. While they do not have immediate plans for another location, they “are open to possibilities and hope the journey doesn’t end here.”

New Additions
- Starting April 7th, Rebel Munchies & Libations will be offering Sunday Brunch 10am – 4pm.
- Yappy Hour at Three of Strong Spirits will be returning April 7th. Yappy Hour is a dogs-encouraged happy hour every Sunday from 12pm to 6pm. Include $2 off draft cocktails, FREE puptails, and discounted snacks.
- Seaweed Week’s Seaweed Saturday will be taking place April 20th at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. A free all-day expo, activities at Seaweed Saturday will highlight seaweed in art, food, and science, featuring dozens of local seaweed farms, businesses, and organizations.
Ongoing Events
- Monday night Paella Night will be returning to Anoche. Returns April 1st and will run May 6th and June 3rd additionally.
- Willard Scoops’ The ‘Scoops of Inspiration: The Invent-a-Flavor Challenge‘ is happening now. Benefitting The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, this unique contest invites ice cream enthusiasts of all ages to blend their imagination and love for ice cream into a flavor that captures the creative, inclusive spirit of the CMTM community.The winning flavor will be featured at Willard Scoops throughout the summer of 2024, with $1 from each sale supporting the CMTM Community Fund that eliminates barriers families might face in engaging with CMTM. Submission deadline: April 15, 2024.
- Batson River Brewing & Distilling’s Annual ChopTails Cocktail Competition has been postponed to Monday, June 17th, 2024 at their Portland location.
