The Weekend Guide for September 15-17, 2017

This weekend there are plenty of things to do in Portland, Maine. Check out a concert or show, walking tour, run a 10k or attend a film festival.
Friday

Tickets will be available at the Maine State Pier box office at 5pm for the Lettuce Benefit Concert tonight! Rock out for a good cause with Full Plates Full Potential, an organization fighting to end child hunger in Maine. AND, you can even purchase VIP after party tickets which will get your name on the list at Boone’s Fish House & Oyster Room where a culinary throwdown between Portland’s top chefs will take place! You don’t want to miss this event!

Pregame for the Lettuce concert at Rising Tide Brewing Company, where Maine Marimba Ensemble will bring the island tunes and Hakka Me will bring the tasty Cantonese eats.

If the Lettuce concert isn’t really your style, Andrew Bailie will be taking the Slab patio stage at 7 for the final Friday installment of the Slab Summer Music Series! Bid adieu to Summer Fridays on the patio with the mellow vibes of Andrew Bailie and a pound of pizza to the face.

A punk rock Portland vs. Boston throwdown is happening at 8 at Geno’s Rock Club! Don’t miss Portland City Saints, Silver Screams, Michael Kane & the Morning Afters, Seasonal Disorders, and OH THE HUMANITY duke it out to see whose city (punk) rocks harder.

Saturday

Starting early at 9:30 am, Be Well Bootcamp & Beer will take place at Shipyard Brewing Company! A ticket to this event gets you a 1-hour boot camp fitness class, a Shipyard tasting flight, and a chance to win a yogi surprise box!

If you love Portland and don’t know a lot about our history, take a Walking Tour with the Maine Historical Society! The tours take you through a guided tour highlighting Portland’s history, maritime heritage, authentic character, and how it grew from a small British colony to the biggest city in Maine.

We don’t know about you, but we’re getting an early start when Oktoberfest at Slab begins at 11 am! With German-style food specials, our favorite Märzens from near and far, and not to mention that live music will begin at 3 with Stains of a Sunflower, followed by Harsh Armadillo from 7-10! Gut Zeiten (also known as good times) will be had!

The Trey Anastasio Band are making a stop at Thompson’s Point on their Paper Wheels tour! This event is presented by 98.9 WCLZ & the State Theatre and the doors open at 5! Why not make a stop at Bissell Brothers Brewing or Stroudwater Distillery on your way in??
