With Halloween falling on a Thursday this year, we asked ourselves “Why limit the festivities to the weekend?” So we compiled a list of all the spooktacular Halloween events Portland, Maine has to offer! Nope, it’s not a trick. We’ve got you covered from Friday the 25th to Saturday the 2nd! With all the awesome events happening in Portland, the scariest part will be deciding which to attend!
Friday the 25th
Head over to Congress Square Park at 5:30pm to watch the Thriller Throwdown 2019 performed by zombies!
POPSiCKEL is hosting a Halloween Costume Party on its biggest boat. Grab a ticket, put on your best costume, and go wild on Casco Bay after dark! Plus, there will even be an exorcism on the dancefloor. Boarding begins at 7:30pm and the boat departs at 8pm. Tickets range from $20-$25 and this is a 21+ event.
Wizard Fest- A Pop Up Wizarding Experience will be at Port City Music Hall at 8pm. There will be trivia, drink specials, cosplay, wizard music, games, and a costume contest with cash and other prizes!
Snag a ticket to Paranoid Social Club w/s/g Mouth Washington at Bayside Bowl! The show runs from 8:30 to 11:30pm and tickets are $10!
Plague is hosting Halloween Goth Ball- Heroes vs Villains from 9pm-1am. There will be a costume contest with a $100 prize for the best hero costume and $100 for the best villain costume, dancing, music, and drinks. This is a 21+ event so don’t forget your ID!
Saturday the 26th
The Third Annual Witch’s Ball will be held between 11am-7pm. There will be spooky cocktails, shopping, activities for the whole family, artisans, handmade crafts, gourmet food, reiki, massages, tarot readings, fashion, jewelry, photo booth, and more. This is a free event!
The 2nd annual Fox Farm Halloween Bash at Novare Res will be held between 12pm-1am! DJ Gabe_FM will be performing and there will be spooky treats from the kitchen!
Get ready to boogie at Monster Mash Funk Bash with Motor Booty Affair! This event will be at The Gold Room Maine between 6 and 11pm. Tickets range from $15-$30, there will be a 50/50 raffle, and multiple event prizes!
Grab a ticket to EqualityMaine’s- The Great Pumpkin Ball at State Theatre. This is one of Maine’s biggest Halloween dance parties and features live local performances, a costume contest, a DJ, and stars Peppermint from RuPaul’s Drag Race. This is an 18+ event, tickets are $20 in advance, $25 day of, and $50 for VIP tickets.
Take a walk through the Haunted Terminal from 6-10pm for the 4th Annual Scare for Wishes event. Every dollar goes to Make-A-Wish Maine to help create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
A Nightmare on Fore Street– Fore Play Sports Pub Halloween Bash will be held at 8pm! Grab your costume and get ready to party!
Check out the Oxbow Brewing Company’s Halloween Dance Party, Carnival Obscura. This event runs from 9pm-1am. There will be a DJ, brews, treats, and tarot reading! Costumes encouraged!
Like anime? Snag a ticket to the Cosplay Halloween Party at Empire Live Music & Events hosted by K-Pop Portland. This event runs from 9pm-12:30am and the tickets are $10. Dress in your best cosplay and enter to win $100! This is a 21+ event.
SPACE Halloween Party will have covers of Blondie, The Cranberries, and Nirvana! This event runs from 9pm to 1am and tickets are $10. Tickets sell out fast so grab them quick!
Sunday the 27th
Check out the Maker’s Market at Thompson’s Point for 75+ vendors including farmers, jewelry makers, artisans, vintage goods, and more. Plus there will be Halloween themed activities for kids! The football game will be playing at multiple locations on the point including at the Bissell Brothers and Stroudwater Distillery too! This event runs from 10am-3pm and is free!
The Rock and Roll Playhouse is hosting a Halloween spooktacular: The Music of Phish for Kids at the Port City Music Hall! The doors open at 11am and the show starts at 11:30am. Tickets are $15 general admission and free for children under 1. This is an all-ages event.
Halloween Gastro Go Go will be at 12pm on Industrial Way. There will be prizes for the best costumes and pumpkin painting activities!
Catch the last show of Walk Among the Shadows 2019, The Spirits of 1820 at 5:30pm at the Eastern Cemetery. Listen to seven spirits talk about their experiences during the separation of Maine and Massachusetts. Adult tickets are $10 and Children 12 and under are $5. There are shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sunday the 27th is the last showing so grab a spot!
Puddles Pity Party, the ‘sad clown with the golden voice’ will be at the Port City Music Hall at 8pm. Tickets range from $40-$60. This show mixes humor, absurdity, and melancholy. Snag a ticket quick!
Monday the 28th
Sign up for an evening tour of Longfellow’s Haunted House and learn about the people who lived and died there. After the tour enjoy light snacks and refreshments from Geary Brewing Company. This is a 21+ event, tickets are $20 general admission, and $15 for Maine Historical Society members.
Tuesday the 29th
Learn about the organ at the Family Halloween with the Kotzschmar Organ and James Kennerley at Merrill Auditorium. This is a family-friendly event from 5:30pm-6pm that will feature kid-friendly Halloween silent cartoons, an organ performance, and a children’s costume parade with prizes!
Celebrate Halloween with death metal! Immolation, Blood Incantation, Shabti & Angel Morgue will be at Geno’s Rock Club from 7pm-12am. Tickets are $20 and the show is 21+
Catch a showing of the Halloween Spectacular of Battleship Potemkin at Merrill Auditorium between 7-9pm. This film is considered one of the best and most terrifying of all time! Plus, there’s an adult costume parade/contest with prizes before the movie!
We’ve got inside intel that Black Cow Burgers will be hosting an R-rated Halloween Trivia night with two video rounds on the big screen! Keep an eye on their Facebook for updates!
Wednesday the 30th
Grab a Hallowednesday Morning Workout at Congress Square Park from 6:30-7:15am. This is a free fitness class and costumes are encouraged! All paces and levels welcome.
Salvage BBQ will be hosting Halloween trivia and a costume contest. So if you want great food and an opportunity to strut your best costume they’ve got you covered! Watch their Facebook for info!
Fluid: Halloween Edition– a costume dance party celebrating bi, pan, queer, trans, and all identities will be held at FLASK LOUNGE. Donations from $3-$5 are encouraged. 100% of these donations which will go to MaineTransNet’s name change fund.
Thursday the 31st
Check out the Halloween Bash at Top of the East between 6-11pm. There will be a DJ, spooky drink specials, and a costume contest at 7pm.
Trick or Treat at the ARLGP between 6-8pm. There will be crafts and activities, meet and greets with the animals, trick-or-treating, and more! Costumes are encouraged! The event is designed for kids aged from toddlers-11yrs. Sign up quick because spaces are limited!
It’s the Night of the Living Beer at Oxbow Brewing Company! This cask(et) party will be from 7-11pm.
Port City Peep Show: Halloween Burlesque & Variety (with DOWNBEAST) will be from at the Portland House of Music! Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 8:30pm. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 day of. This is the 5th annual Halloween burlesque and variety spectacular! After the show, there will be a dance party so get ready to get down! Wear a costume and you might win a prize! This is a 21+ event so don’t forget your ID!
Celebrate at the Thursday Night Halloween Party between 8pm-1am at The Whiskey Barrel. Come in costume for a chance to win a $100 gift card! There will be a DJ, cool Jagermeister swag, and there’s no cover charge!
Snag a ticket to The Masterstroke Queen Experience at the Port City Music Hall at 8pm. There will be a costume contest, a photo booth, and special guests Good Will Harding (Classic British Rock). Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 day of, and $30 preferred GA seating. This event is 18+.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be playing at 9pm at the Westbrook Cinemagic! Costumes are encouraged!
Check out the 37th West End Halloween Parade! The gathering will start at 5:30pm, there will be a kickoff feature at 6pm, and the parade loop will start at 6:15pm. There will be creative costumes, life-sized puppets, local musicians, and dancers!
Friday the 1st
Check out Gas Mask Halloween Happy Hour at Sun Tiki Studios. Young Bret will join Fat Knuckle Freddy playing Meantone’s Greatest Hits for Halloween. This event runs from 6-9pm and there’s a cover of $8.
Candy’s will be hosting a dance party from 8-11pm with Ms. Wrecks and Double Dessert! Watch their Facebook for more info!
Saturday the 2nd
Emo Night Portland: Costume Party will be at the Portland House of Music and Events from 8pm-1am. Rock out to awesome emo bands and wear your best costume!
Extra Life Gaming Night to Benefit BBCH will be at the Bissell Brothers. Draft sales and any game entry fees go to support the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital. There will be raffles throughout the night too!
The Port City Music Hall is hosting Missfits- An All Ghoul Misfits Tribute, doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 day of. This event is 18+ so bring your ID!
