Sierra Hull is acclaimed as a master of her instrument, boasting two Grammy nominations as an artist and songwriter. She has garnered recognition not only for her latest projects but also as a four-time recipient of the IBMA’s Mandolin Player of the Year award, being the first woman to achieve this honor. Hull has been a trailblazer in acoustic music throughout her impressive multi-decade career, performing on the country’s most iconic stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, and the White House. Hailing from Byrdstown, Tennessee, her distinctive sound is deeply rooted in bluegrass, solidifying her reputation as one of the most inventive artists in acoustic music.

Growing up, Phillip-Michael Scales didn’t quite grasp the significance of being called “Nephew” by his aunt’s close friend, who he referred to as “Uncle B.” It wasn’t until he started guitar lessons that he realized Uncle B was B.B. King. This revelation initially made him shy away from soloing and the blues, steering him instead toward a love for songwriting. With a strong independent streak and a passion for performing, Scales led his own indie bands, wrote and recorded his music, and worked to establish his name on his own terms. After his Uncle B passed away, Scales began to integrate more blues into his music as a tribute.
