There are a LOT of touristy restaurants in the Old Port section of Portland, Maine and you should avoid the vast majority. But Henry’s Public House is right there among the cool art shops, pot dispensers and chochky shops with a wonderful chef and a great atmosphere. The food is really good! We were attracted by the Longfellow vibe, dark, rich decor and the menu. We started with raw oysters and haddock chowder. They were both meaty and delicious. The haddock chowder was very buttery and chunky and the oysters were very fresh. We split the Hank burger which came with great fries. The burger style is two thin patties with all the extras, like a super high quality Big Mac, and I mean this in a good way. It was very delicious! I had an Old fashioned that came with a square ice cube with the Public House name etched in the ice. Very nice. My wife’s California Cab was great. I switched to Guinness, which was on tap, to complement the burger. Our server was fantastic. We chose the fudge sundae for dessert and it was one of the best we’ve had! Complaints: The men’s bathroom was too small for two urinals without a splash/privacy wall between so that was weird, even though I love peeing six Inches from the next guy 🤮. The only other complaint is the jazz band played too loud for the space and we couldn’t hear or talk at all after they stated playing. The jazz music was great but it needed to be about 30 decibels lower. We literally could not hear or talk after they started. That said, we recommend Henry’s Public House and will come back the next time we’re in town!

We randomly stopped in here for a snack and cocktail and it did not disappoint! It was Monday night and the place was in full swing! Our server was so great and attentive. Best cosmopolitan I’ve had in a long time!

my friends and I love this place so much! Our fave drinks: after work cigarette, connecting flight, cease & desist, 34th St. Julep.Food recs: oysters, Long Fellow Burger, and Ciambotta. The staff are so nice and attentive but our server, Mina, was especially amazing! Henry’s is everything you want in a restaurant.

Visited twice in three days because the Old Fashioneds are unparalleled and the Caesar salad is sublime. The overall vibe is classic and old and cared-for, the kind of place I imagine Longfellow would have appreciated. Bartenders know their business and are good at their craft.Live music nights are perfect, try to hit it when they have it: 5 or 6 in the evening. Great for small groups, couples, singles. Not a party joint, just low key and down to earth. Wish I could take this one home with me.

Great food! I didn’t expect chunks of anchovies on my salad, but it was still good!! The Steak Frites were good as well, and the fries were great—not soggy or hard.

Taste is important, sure, but what matters most to me are the people I encounter. At Henry's, I met Tanya, the bartender; Hannah, a waitress; and the hostess, to whom I did not introduce myself. These young women I am sure the owner is happy he hired. Great staff.Besides my nightly Margarita, I thought I might hang out in Portland for a night; I stayed three. I ordered deviled eggs, which were upper-level—flavors and textures I'd not imagined combining.Photos of the band playing tonight

We had a great dinner at Henry’s. We chose the location for the live music but the food and service were spot on as well. Lots of good options on the menu, but if you are up for a unique item try the Rarebit (pictured).

Our hotel concierge recommended this place for seafood & non seafood dishes and we’re so grateful because we had lobster for three days straight. Mina our server was friendly, professional and overall a great server. She recommend the pork chops which were cooked perfectly medium with au jus that was complementary to the flavor profile of the pork. The cauliflower were a bit burnt but the brown butter was smooth and not too sweet. The scallop dish was a perfect balance of slightly firm texture and scallop flavor profile with the grassy and slightly spicy radish stems with the neutral base of English peas.and carrot purée.The quality of the food was great for the value and the atmosphere is great for couples and an intimate family dinner.I highly recommend this restaurant which has a great deal of French inspired dishes without the attitude but culinary flair.

Cool spot, got a vintage feel to the place. Beer selection is good but they didn’t have the one beer I wanted from the menu unfortunately. Didn’t try the food but it looked good. Bathroom is crazy tiny.

I started with the cease and desist tequila cocktail, it was a well balanced and delicious. We had the mussels, cob salad and the French dip. The mussels were huge and the sauce was incredible. The bacon on the cob salad was amazing and the hand cut fries are a must have. Our bartender, Tonya, was friendly, efficient and made beautiful cocktails.

As you can see we ordered a little bit of everything. I haven’t been to this location since before into transformation into Henry’s Public House so I was excited to give it a shot. The Brussels sprouts are to die for!! I wish I ordered three more really.. and the pub burger was just the same 100/10! Our drinks were great and our server was very wonderful and overall we had a great time with some great bites!

Another great edition from the Miranda Restaurant Group. Henry's is not your typical pub, it's food is elevated, the beer list is unique, and the mixed drinks are next level! We popped in for a late lunch during a holiday weekend and grabbed the last two seats at the bar. We both ordered burgers and truly enjoyed the combination of flavors. The burger was thick and juicy with the right amount of char, the sesame seed bun was soft, and the chimichurri aioli complimented the rest of the toppings, including cheese, bacon, and fried onions. The burger was served with salad greens, and the light dressing balanced the grease of the burger. You honestly don't need to order an additional side of fries. With so many great breweries in Portland, we loved that the draft list included other out of state favorites such as Foam and Russian River! We'll be back to explore more of the menu.

Chloe was at the door and was very accommodating, sat us in a great seat. A young man came out and asked us what we wanted to drink while we waited. Victoria works in the kitchen and advised me on some items- Brussels, steak and pork chops- all amazing - Hannah was our server - she took great care of us! Very impressed with what they’ve done with the place.

We stopped in for a beer and enjoyed the pub. Sat by the window and people watched while drinking beer.

We were excited to come here as we used to love Bull Feeny's! We loved what they did with the place. It felt pub style but also upscale! The cocktail was so good my husband decided to order one too! The food & service were great and we loved the atmosphere! We will definitely be coming back again! 💛

Great atmosphere!!! Love music on a Monday and the band was exceptional! Cocktails were great and while we did not eat here, the food we saw looked tasty! Can’t wait to be back!

Very cool looking bar. Cocktails are pretty good, beer is not bad. The wait staff I encountered were great but the bartenders not so much. The downstairs seems to be the more relaxed portion and the upstairs is a bit more focused on the drinking and events. I found the downstairs to be a lot more thought out and well furnished. Overall I’m excited to see how this place does.

Found this place by accident. Had a girls night out and was not disappointed. The downstairs was a step through time with old world fixtures. A great array of drinks. We arrived too late for food so hopefully next time. I had the Irish coffee and Pain Killer. They were flavorful. Upstairs they had a DJ that played a good mix. Towards the end of the night had a bartender surprise me with a Harrison Special. All staff was great and had a lot of fun. Thanks!

New to Portland. Walked around for an hour checking menus on doors, chose this spot, very satisfied. Delicious sauces, creative toppings, very well prepared food. Had the shishito peppers, beet salad, mushroom toast and blackened fish sandwich, all very good. Hanna was a great server, really took care of us. Not expensive, great feel. Going back for the live jazz later.

Excellent food and cocktails! Not your average American food restaurant. Small menu, but everything we ate was incredible! The inside of the restaurant was intimate and well decorated. Close to great bars and activities.Favorite items that we ordered were the snap pea cocktail, devils on horseback, and beet carpaccio.I’d highly suggest visiting here while in Portland!

Great drinks and good food. The atmosphere in there really shines. One of the cooler interiors I’ve seen in Portland. Very excited to see what the future has in store for Henry’s!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Henry's Public House and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations, making it easy for me to choose from their wide selection of delicious dishes. The drink menu was equally impressive, with an extensive selection of craft beers, wines, and cocktails. The bartenders were skilled and creative, crafting unique and delicious drinks that perfectly complemented the meal.Overall, Henry's Public House exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of excellent service, delectable food, and inviting ambiance makes it a standout dining destination. I highly recommend Henry's Public House to anyone looking for a memorable experience. It truly deserves every bit of its five-star rating.
