Countries represented at festivals previous have included Ireland, Cambodia, India, Sudan, Germany, Democratic Republic of the Congo, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Cameroon, Peru, Sweden, Benin, Ethiopia, Nigeria and the United States. Native Americans have also been represented.
“When humans wanted to imitate walking, they invented the wheel, which does not resemble a leg.” – Apollinaire
Part musical, part opera, part immersive, feminist, surrealist, gender expansive romp, and yet fully Hogfish, join us for the Maine premiere of Francis Poulenc and Guillaume Apollinaire’s BREASTS OF TIRESIAS. Performed in a special English language, two piano-version arranged by Benjamin Britten and Viola Tunnard, in the state-of-the art night club AURA in downtown, Portland followed by TERESA’S TATAS! , the interactive dance party with tunes and themes from the show woven into a night of empowering electronica by DJ xnrg.
This new kind of double-bill asks, how can we make love instead of war, both on stage and in the audience? What binaries do we all need to transcend to become and rejoice in our authentic selves?
Dress Code: Pink, blue, and white outfits celebrating your authentic self in any style are highly encouraged.
Brought to you by the same team as last summer’s sold out hit, CarmXn!

A gender-expansive, feminist dance party
Immediately following the surrealist, gender expansive, feminist show THE BREASTS OF TIRESIAS, TERESA’S TATAS takes up where TIRESIAS left off – liberated, authentic, and ready to party. DJ xnrg of last year’s Hogfish hit CarmXn returns for a night of house music that celebrates women and queer joy. Each night, a special guest DJ will take the party to new heights as we reach midnight. Join us for a night of gleeful expression and fun. Pink, blue, and white outfits celebrating your authentic self in any style are highly encouraged.
