You can never know too much when it comes to beer and ale in the 18th century. Come join our Tate House Museum docents on October 12th

This all-new tour will enlighten our guests as to the role of servants in brewing and other kitchen duties. Learn what “pounded cheese” was, how to make it, and enjoy a sample. What did the colonials learn from Indigenous people that impacted their foods and its preparation? Cocktails from beer? You’ll be introduced to beverages you may want to try.

ColoniAle consists of a one-hour beer-centric house tour followed with a social time in the backyard of the Tate House where you will be given a Tate House pint glass and 2 pints of Mast Landing ale. Mast Landing Brewing is the generous sponsor of our event and is providing guests with their signature ale. Imbibing is encouraged!!!

Tours are on the hour at 3:00 and 4:00 PM with a social hour following from 4:00- 6:00 PM. General admission is $30 and $20 for Tate House Museum members. Definitive After Dark is back for another night of dancing, movies, food, and music (AND BEER!)
Saturday, October 12th from 8pm-midnight is our 80s Dance Party featuring a lineup of local Maine DJs and a curated mix of 1980s beats. The taproom transforms into a dance floor and the patio transforms into a theater/lounge with couches and big screen TV showing favorite 80s movies. Dress the part and let your 80s wild child rage!
We will have our regular taplist with plenty of beer options, plus a selection of wine, cider, and NA drinks.
Fat Kid will be on hand sending up tasty foods until 10pm, so come hungry!
The event is totally free to attend, no cover. 21+ after 8pm.

Pub Trivia Murder Mystery Challenge: The Case of the Poisoned Patron at Oxbow Brewing Company @ Oxbow Brewing Company | Portland | Maine | United States

For months, the local pub was home to a run-of-the-mill trivia game. Until one night, it was home to a murder! A local player dropped dead in this otherwise friendly battle of wits, and the game hasn’t run again since… until tonight.

Tonight, we’re enlisting your help to solve this mystery the only way we know how: Through a game of pub trivia. Each round, your group will answer trivia questions, which will, in turn, unlock details of the murder, uncover backstories and ultimately answer the greatest question of them all: Whodunnit?

So form a team with your sleuthiest friends and see if you can solve The Case of The Poisoned Patron!

Please note: This is not a theatrical production featuring actors or audience roles or some of the other staples of a murder mystery production, rather this is a trivia game with a murder mystery puzzle interwoven.

A few other items of note…

1) This is our first time running this event in Maine, though we have hosted it already in Boston and Rhode Island (so far, all of our New England events have sold out!), and if it goes well here, we hope to host another night of it soon. They are all the same game featuring the same key elements and questions, so we ask players not to sign up for more than one event. However, for those of you dying to play again, we have good news: If this continues to get as good a reaction as it has so far, we plan to do a new mystery in 2025. If you click the “upcoming events” tab at www.quirkevents.com, and choose the city of your choice, then scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, you’ll be able to join our mailing list and get notified about future events. Plus, joining our mailing list gets you 50% off your first ticket purchase!

2) This event will take place at 49 Washington Ave, Portland ME, in Oxbow Brewing’s original tasting room.

3) Refunds are only available to those who cancel with more than 48 hours’ notice. After that, we’re blowing the money from your ticket sale on something extravagant and nonrefundable.
