HIP & LOW BACK THERAPEUTICS SERIES
This four week series will focus on therapeutic yoga practices to support the health of your hips, pelvis and lower back. This series is for you if:
You’ve graduated from physical therapy sessions, you’re post-rehab and you need to maintain strength and mobility.
You’ve dealt with hip and low back issues for years, and you need a regular routine to sustain strength.
These classes are slow and detailed, with plenty of opportunity for discussion and attention to individual issues. If you are post-rehab from injury or surgery, make sure you are cleared for exercise before signing up.

This class is designed for women survivors of trauma, including those experiencing chronic pain. The focus of this class is to befriend our bodies through movement, breath, and self-awareness to help regulate the nervous system, manage stress, and cultivate a sense of calm and groundedness. We will explore sensations of comfort and ease and emphasize listening to our own body’s wisdom, needs, and boundaries in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. We believe in the healing power of community and connection.
This class offers a supportive space for you to connect with fellow participants who share similar experiences and challenges. We will foster a sense of belonging and solidarity as we journey together towards healing and growth.
No prior experience of yoga is required! All women are welcome.
What to Expect—
Participants can choose to be on a mat or in a chair depending on their level of comfort.
Classes begin with breathing exercises and warm-up movements that are widely accessible for various levels of mobility

WITH KATE OLSON & VICTORIA RUTLEDGE
all proceeds matched by PYP and donated directly to Wabanaki REACH
Hosted by Kate Olson and Victoria Rutledge, we will take a journey of exploration to learn about how our current climate crisis is affecting our ecosystem here in Maine, and how that is reflected in the lived experience of our bodies. With so much fear and uncertainty surrounding the drastic changes we will witness in our lifetime, how can we use grounding and embodiment practices to build and maintain the resilience necessary to hold what is to come? To stay connected to one another and build the networks of care that will sustain us? How are the ecosystems that surround us reflected within our bodies?
This workshop will include movement, journaling, and action items that we invite you to commit to as we move forward together.
To make this accessible, we are offering a sliding scale for pricing, with proceeds donated to Wabanaki REACH, an organization whose work supports the self-determination of Wabanaki people through education, truth-telling, restorative justice, and restorative practices in Wabanaki and Maine communities.
Kate Olson, PhD, is a writer, environmental sociologist, and community organizer. Her work explores the ways people, places, and livelihoods shape each other in a changing climate. Find her on social media @livingchangeme and using the link below.
Victoria Rutledge is a Movement Guide,
Facilitator, Grief Worker, and Outreach Ambassador for Portland Yoga Project.
