The Custom House Gang is a rotating cast of talented musicians with a consistent core that has been performing early to mid-20th century music at Andy’s for a decade, from traditional blues and folk to 1940’s pop tunes, with The Band, Dylan, Hank Williams, and whatever pops into their heads thrown in.

Singer/Songwriter Contest Rules
The Thirsty Pig
Location: 37 Exchange St, Portland, ME 04101
Start Date: January 9, 2025
Time: 6:00-8:00PM.

Employees of The Thirsty Pig, The Studio Portland, or National Distributors are not eligible to enter.
Each performer will play three original songs in front of a panel of 3 judges. John McArthur, co-owner of The Studio Portland, will host the weekly contest.
The judges will pick one winner from the night who will advance to the finals on February 27th. Weekly winners will receive a free Studio Portland Live recording session (value $175).
Anyone who doesn’t win a weekly competition can apply to compete again by emailing [email protected] based upon availability of performance slots on Jan 16, Jan 23, Jan 30, Feb 6, Feb 13, and Feb 20.
At the finals, on February 27th, the 7 weekly winners will compete for a grand prize: a free 3-hour Rehearse and Record Session at The Studio Portland (Value $450)
Criteria for judging include song craft, lyrics, instrumental performance, vocal performance and stage presence.
Prizes must be redeemed in calendar year 2025.
