Renowned dance artist Lil Buck conceived, choreographed and performs in his latest production — “Memphis Jookin’: The Show”. An ode to Lil Buck’s hometown and the birthplace of this singular hip-hop dance style, “Memphis Jookin’” takes audiences on a journey to the fabled city where the artform emerged from a local street dance to an international phenomenon. Evolved from a stylized strut, visually and fundamentally, Memphis Jookin’ embodies steps tied together with slides, glides, toe spins and intricate footwork. Lil Buck stars alongside 10 virtuosic and athletic Memphis Jookin’ dancers and a live DJ creating a soundtrack that evokes the energy of the streets, hallways and clubs where Memphis Jookin’ was born.
It’s an open mic, but for DJs. Bring your Records, CDs, or Controller. All formats/genres are welcome. Every Tuesday at Flask Lounge with select resident hosts each week.
Sign-ups start at 8:30 pm sharp. For specific questions please join the Open Facebook Page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/127970240746459
The Sesh will start out with a 45 minute set from the HOUSE BAND – each week there will be a house band with a weekly featured artist!
The Portland area has a thriving Jazz scene and we want to see that community come together! There’s no better way of exploring and growing in music than by playing with new people. Come make some music, friends, and memories!
HOW IT WORKS:
There is a SIGN-UP SHEET that will be posted an hour before the session on one of the tables closest to the door! If you’d like to play a tune please write your name, instrument and your call on the sheet before the session begins, this will help us to stay organized through the night so that no one is skipped or left out during the session.
If you have any questions regarding the format of the session or are interested in being our featured artist please reach out to ED MITCHELL, our host of the sesh:

*if you are under 21 and wish to participate in the session you MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
*$20 suggested donation to the house band – announcements will be made

Live music followed by a communal Irish music session:
“…a gathering of Irish traditional musicians for the purpose of celebrating their common interest in the music by playing it together in a relaxed, informal setting, while in the process generally beefing up the mystical cultural mantra that hums along uninterruptedly beneath all manifestations of Irishness worldwide.”
The general session scheme is that someone starts a tune, and those who know it join in. Good session etiquette requires not playing if one does not know the tune, and waiting until a tune one knows comes along. In an “open” session, anyone who is able to play Irish music is welcome.
